Deserved Canberra Win For Malone & Scholes

It is always great to see winning owners and trainers take out a final, especially when you know how much they’ve put into the racing game.

On Sunday night some small rewards came for the Fred Malone, Mark Scholes team when Facial pinged the lids to lead all the way in the Most Awesome Novice Final.

Heavily favoured in last week’s heats the White and Blue Dog byBig Daddy Coolx Miss Forrester just qualified and while drawing the middle boxes isn’t everyone’s cup of tea it suited Facial more than last weeks red box.

With $1,200 plus a Most Awesome frozen straw the successful heat and final series, went to welcoming recipients, for the smart 30.60 run.

Lorraine Roy’s kennel was the only one to pick up multiple wins for the night with Bradman’s Willow cracking its maiden over first starter for Darren Lang Anything Idle and Sweet Rayah.

Heavily favoured It’s A Chance racked up it’s fourth win from five starts at Canberra in best of the night 25.52, kennel mate Clancy’s flow giving the Roy’s the quinella.

Rex Cook andDarren Crosertraveled to Canberra with just the one starter each and both we successful in taking out their races with Psycho Sam andMiss Hyperactiverespectively.

Princess Snowymade the successful step up to 440 metres claiming race two of the program, in 25.67 over Terry’s Elite and Markus Park, $2.40 the best odds available through the TAB.

A delighted Amanda Ginn secured her first winner at Canberra for 2009 when first starter Emannette claimed race three, having to work hard at the first turn and take the lead from Janoka’s Puzzle in the home straight, a healthy $8.30 dividend was awaiting with ACTTAB for the victory over the shorts.

Rod McDonald’s top class sprinters made it another quinella for the second week running, Dana Tee again proving triumphant over kennelmate Dana Jack in best of the night 17.79, Lightnin’ Jasso rounding out the placings.

Top Octane for Peter Heslop of Bungendore secured its place in next weeks Canberra Mower Services Final taking out heat two, head of odds on favorite Highland Sac and last start winner Fast and Pure.

The final event and heat going to Michael Lean’s Shonky’s Girl, the fastest heat qualifier in 18.12 sprung the lids with Brad’s Rocket and kicked away at the final turn to make it’s way through to this weeks final.
