Miss Peru Wins Canberra’s Feature Sprint Event

In what will become Canberra’s 440metre feature, the Canberra Mower Services Charity Cup attracted some brilliant up and comers, and it was Miss Peru who took out the inaugural Final on Sunday night.
The black bitch was able to get through the early trouble to go on and beat Izmir’s Warrior and Artistic Osti in 25.61, to take home $2,000 for connections and associated charity; GRNSW Greyhounds As Pets.
The win topping a good night for Yass trainer Neil Staines who also had a win with Galba Magic and a third toVallee Rattler.
In the support final, the Anytime Fitness 600m, it was More To State for Gary Smith who charged to the line just beating Pack And Guns.
Smith was wrapped with the win having taken eight starts to win on the ACT track.
Gunning trainer Andy Lord rectifing Pack And Guns second with three winners over the rest of the meeting, Brassed Off, Half As Mate and American Spot all claiming solid wins.
Denice Warren topped her good last week results with a win to Berella Laura, while in the Brian Scott Memorial heats I’m The Cure and Highland Abbey were top qualifiers.
The tenth winner for the evening went the way of Aranda who after having been consistantly placing for several weeks broke through, a great delight to connections.
Racing continues this Sunday, with racing every Sunday through to January 17th.
