Talking breeding: Fabregas litter expected to turn heads on track

THIS week's review of litters selected from the NSW Whelping Report for the week ending November 8, 2015 starts with a nice litter of 10 pups by the beautifully bred, 2012 National Sprint Championship winner, Fabregas (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Wicked Witch).

Registered by Aberglasslyn breeder, Bradley Canty, the four dogs and six bitches are from the very well bred bitch, Heat The Plate (March 2009 Slater x My Girl Harriet) whose dam is by x Ebony Rose (Gun Law Osti x Floodgate).

With Heat The Plate's sire, Slater (Surf Lorian x Wipeout) winning the 2007 Golden Easter Egg, and her dam, My Girl Harriet's sire, Light Of Fire (New Tears x Centrefire) winning the 1994 Melbourne Cup, the pedigree of these well bred youngsters should ensure they are keenly sought after, especially the six bitches, with future breeding in mind.

Heat The Plate is from a litter of four named, which included, I'm Quick, Slater's Me Dad and South Curyl, with their dam also producing winners from her other litters, by El Galo, Elite State, Primo Uno, Pure Octane and Surf Lorian, however she only had a total of 19 named offspring from her six litters.

On the track, Heat The Plate raced 41 times for seven wins and 11 placings, winning twice over 565m at (31.81) with single wins over 515m at The Gardens (30.19), 600m at Dapto (34.91) and (35.68), 717m at Richmond (42.27) and 720m at Wentworth Park (42.82).

She has two previous litters on file, five dogs and one bitch, by Nitro Burst, whelped in April 2013, then four dogs and five bitches, by Dyna Lachlan, whelped in March 2014, so she certainly has some very well bred youngsters on the ground for prospective buyers with future breeding in mind to follow.

Look for the sun

NSW whelping reportNEXT we have another litter of 10 pups, this time by the recently retired, champion, millionaire, Fernando Bale (March 2013 Kelsos Fusileer* x Chloe Allen).

The six dogs and four bitches were registered by the B. Ward syndicate from Chipping Norton and are from the beautifully bred bitch, Solar Pak (January 2012 Mogambo x Tifi) whose very good producing dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x Chili Berger (Elle's Commando x Alice Dooley).

Solar Pak is from a litter of four named, which included, Shine, Someone Tifi and Tough Amigo, with their dam producing good winners from each of her three other litters, whelped in May 2010 by Collision, March 2011 by Where's Pedro, then a repeat mating to collision, producing good litter of nine pups named, in December 2012.

On the track, Solar Pak raced 29 times for eight wins and eight placings, winning four times over 520m at Dapto (30.15) where she also won over 600m (34.67), twice over 520m at Wentworth Park (30.03) and also over 618m at Richmond (36.13).

Another litter of ten

The three time Group 1 winner, who raced 71 times for 37 wins and 15 placings and $618,827 in stakes, won the 2012 and 2013 Group 1 Winter Cup, the 2011 Group 1 Brisbane Cup and Queensland Sprint final, finished second in the 2011 Group 1 Silver Chief, 2012 Group 1 Perth Cup and 2012 Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Group 1 National Sprint, and was also a finalist in the 2012 Group 1 Temlee.

He is from his dam's only litter, which included, Arundel, Dust Coupe, Velocity Zap, Velocity Zip and Velocity Zoom.

The six dogs and four bitches in this week's litter were registered by Theresa Creek breeder, Anthony Bunney, and are from the well bred bitch, Silent Knockout (December 2008 Elite State x Deep Model) whose dam is by Deep North x Model Adele (Bobniak x Little And Loud).

She is from a litter which included, Basalt Jab, Lucy Gaga, Perro Diablo, Salty Kebab, Sheza Bunney and Sure Destiny, with their dam's only other litter, whelped in September 2011, by Cosmic Rumble, having three named, Harry Booker, Jenny Booker and Tweed Secret.

Silent Knockout only raced 13 times for three wins and three placings, winning three times over 420m at Tweed Heads (23.60) with one placing and two placings over 411m at Casino.

She is a proven producer, from two previous litters, the first, whelped in March 2012 by producing Nat's Angel, Smalltime, You Telam Emily, You Telam Lewie and Yopu Telam Troy, then a December 2013 litter by Cape Hawke producing Emily Dude, Galaxy Knockout, Range Hawke, You Telam Jacko and To Telam Viv.

Ten for Spring Gun

OUR final litter for review from the NSW Whelping Report this week is yet another litter of ten pups, this time by the beautifully bred, successful sire, Spring Gun (June 2009 Bombastic Shiraz x Ready For Rain).

Bred by Cowra breeder, Pamela Braddon, the five dogs and five bitches are from the nicely bred, proven producer, Willow Blaze (November 2010 Goodesy x Lumeah Girl) whose dam is by History Lesson x Mackie (Kedo's Image x Secret Moment).

She is from a litter of five named, which included, Goodsman, Mariska Girl, Topsey Lady and Yarnie. With their dam also producing some handy winners from her other litters, whelped in March 2006 by Big Daddy Cool and June 2007 by Whisky Assassin, with just the one pup named from a March 2009 litter by Over Flo, giving her a total of 16 named offspring from her four litters.

Willow Blaze raced 26 times for eight wins and six placings, winning four times over 520m at Bathurst (29.86), three times over 453m at Cowra (26.46) and also over 520m at Wentworth Park (30.12).

She has one previous litter on file, whelped in April 2014, by El Grand Senor, with six named, All A Blaze, Hopes A Chance, Little Willow, Marbos Magic, Susie Willow and Willows Secret, who are not two years old yet and have won more than 20 races between them already.

Victorian List

Victorian Litter RegistrationTURNING our attention to the Victorian Litter Registrations list for the week ending February 19, our first litter for review is a litter of 13 pups, the first Australian litter for the beautifully bred Irish sire Ballymac Vic* (June 2010 Kinloch Brae* x Ballymac Vicky) whose dam is by Elite State x Ballymac Slippy* (Rantogue Pride x Blonde Slippy).

Ballymac Vic broke the over 480m at Cork (27.94), ran third in the 2013 , second in the Group 1 Champion Stakes, second in the Group 1 Race Of Champions and second in the 2013 Easter Cup, and was a finalist in the 2014 Group 1 Irish Derby.

With his US bred sire, Kinloch Brae* (August 2005 Craigie Mo Town x Greys Free Style) now standing in Ireland and doing so well here in Australia, and dam's Australian bloodlines, through Elite State (April 2001 Just The Best x Spark Again) this litter should create enormous interest, especially the bitches, with prospective buyers with future breeding in mind.

The eight dogs and five bitches were registered by the Four Frothy's syndicate manager, Glenn Pask, and are from the well bred, lightly raced bitch, Absolute Stunna (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Regal Blaze) whose dam is by Pure Octane x Sound Lee (Brett Lee x Sound The Alarm) and worth recalling, Sound The Alarm is by the successful Irish import Barneys Alarm* x Skyline Miss (Hua x Fitzroy Lass) so the pedigree of these well bred youngsters goes on forever.

Absolute Stunna raced 11 times for three wins and five placings, winning twice over 460m at Warragul (26.15) and also over 520m at Cranbourne (31.00) where she was also placed, and placed four times over 460m at Geelong.

Interesting to note, her first litter, whelped in November 2013, by Kinloch Brae has been a great success already, with seven named offspring, Absolute Silence, Bells Are Ringing, Blazin Bomber, Kinloch Stunna, Miss Kadia, Ring The Bell and Stunning Success having won more than 50 races between them, which should add even further to the interest in her second litter.

Two Barcia Bale litters

TWO litters on the Victorian list this week by current top Victorian metropolitan sire, Barcia Bale (March 2010 Go Wild Teddy x Princess Bale), with six pups in the first litter, registered by St. Leonards breeder Mark Cauchi.

The three dogs and three bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Ella's Cruising (March 2013 Fabregas x Cruisy Sal) whose dam is by Cruise Creek x Our Melody Sal (Lansley Bale x Sobbing Sal).

What makes this litter even more interesting is the fact that Ella's Crusing returned to racing after whelping this litter and was a great winner at The Meadows last Saturday night, from box seven, over 600m, defeating Jayco Bale and Emily Jane, running 34.56.

The win was her seventh from 27 starts to date, her third since whelping the litter and she has also been placed ten times, which will further add to the interest in this litter.

She has won four times over 525m at The Meadows (30.10) and now over 600m (34.56) with single wins over 515m at Sandown (29.90) and 500m at (28.22) where she has also been placed twice, with additional placings over 545m at Ballarat, and 460m at Geelong where she also placed over 520m, and has placings at both city tracks to go with her handy wins.

Strathfieldsaye breeder, Mark Morrissey, has the other Barcia Bale litter, which is six dogs and four bitches, from the well bred bitch, Kokoda Spirit (May 2011 Knocka Norris x Flaming Doll) whose dam is by Ginger Bread Man x Hot Doll (Hotshot x Dolly Bird).

She is from a handy litter of six named, which included, Barardo, Boss, Guru Doll, Mister Marshman and Star Doll, with their dam having six other named offspring on file from three litters, March 2012 by Bekim Bale (which includes the handy stayer Beks), one named from her December 2012 litter by Fabregas and one named from her March 2014 litter by Collision.

Kokoda Spirit has one previous litter on file, six dogs and three bitches, whelped in December 2014 by Collision.

Her breeding career is off to a good start, with her first litter, whelped in November 2013, by Bekim Bale, producing Kokoda Dawn, Kokoda Eclipse, Kokoda Moon, Kokoda Storm and Kokoda Sunrise, with all but Kokoda Dawn winning races, who has been placed three times from 14 starts.
