Talking Breeding: There’s no missing this Dyna Double One litter

THIS week's review of litters from the Victorian Litter Registrations list for the week ending August 3 starts with a beautifully bred litter of nine pups by champion sprinter Dyna Double One (March 2013 Barcia Bale x Crystin Bale), winner of four Group 1 finals, the 2015 Melbourne Cup, the 2015 Brisbane Cup, the 2016 Rookie Rebel and the 2016 Australian Cup.

He also finished second in the Group 1 Peter Mosman and the Group 1 Winter Cup, third in the Group 1 Silver Chief and the Group 1 and was a finalist in the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg, the Group 1 Maturity, the Group 1 Adelaide Cup and the Group 1 .

His race record shows he started 54 times for 31 wins, nine seconds and six thirds with stake earnings of $1,160,316 to his credit, with a 29.51 track record over 520 metres at Albion Park.

Nambrock breeder, Olivia Alcock, registered his litter of five dogs and four bitches, on behalf of the Shut The Front Door syndicate, who are from the very well bred bitch, Miss Suzie Que (July 2013 Magic Sprite x Audacious Elle), whose dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x Pure Elle ( x Ikari Lee).

She is from a very good litter of 10 named, which included Audacious Em, Audacious Sprite, He's So Good, Kid Audacious, Old Man Emu, Rockon Audacious, Stylish Magician and Tip Audacious.

Their dam, Audacious Elle has one other litter on file, with seven named, whelped in November 2014 by which also produced some very handy winners.

Miss Suzie Que raced 23 times for eight wins and four placings, winning twice over 460 metres at Warragul (26.02) where she also won over 400 metres (22.61), while she won twice over 450 metres at Shepparton (25.39) with single wins over 515 metres at Sandown Park (29.84), 500 metres at Bendigo (28.18) and 520 metres at Geelong (29.90).

Seven little Dolls

NEXT we have a nice litter of seven pups, registered by astute Portland breeder, Robert Halliday, by 2012 National Sprint Championship winner, Fabregas (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Wicked Witch).

The two dogs and five bitches are from the well bred bitch, Guru Doll (May 2011 Knocka Norris x Flaming Doll), whose dam is by Ginger Bread Man x Hot Doll (Hotshot x Dolly Bird).

Guru Doll is from a litter which included Bacardo, Boss, Kokoda Spirit, Mister Marshman and Star Doll, with their dam having six other named offspring on file from three litters, whelped in March 2012 by Bekim Bale, December 2012 by Fabregas and March 2014 by Collision.

On the track she raced 14 times for five wins and four placings, winning over 515 metres at Sandown (29.66), 425 metres at Bendigo (24.23), 390 metres at Shepparton (22.16), 450 metres at Warrnambool (25.89) and 515 metres at Angle Park (29.91).

She is already a proven producer from the seven named in her first litter, whelped in March 2014 by Dyna Tron, then she has a litter of six dogs and four bitches on file, whelped in December 2014, by Cosmic Rumble.

Award winning litter

Victorian litter registrationsLARA breeder, Rose Geall, has a litter of six pups on the list this week by the recently crowned Victorian Greyhound Of The Year, Fernando Bale (March 2013 Kelsos Fusileer* x Chloe Allen).

The five dogs and one bitch in the litter are from the beautifully bred, Group 3 WA Oaks finalist and proven producer, Where's Demonica (March 2009 Where's Pedro x Demonica), whose dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x My Girl Ashlee (Awesome Assassin x ).

She is from a 100% winning litter of four named, which included Bubbly Brooke, Loveable Lyn and Plankton, with their dam also having winners on file from her two other 100% winning litters, whelped in January 2010 by El Galo and December 2012 by Bekim Bale, giving her a perfect record.

Where's Demonica raced 68 times for 22 wins and 20 placings, winning four times over 515 metres at Sandown (29.62), three times over 450 metres at Warrnambool (25.09), twice each over 525 metres at The Meadows (29.97), 480 metres at Horsham (27.25), where she also won over 570 metres (32.07), 450 metres at Shepparton (25.39) and 460 metres at Geelong (25.81) where she also won over 520 metres (30.15) and won over 520 metres at Cranbourne (30.70), 460 metres at Warragul (26.35), 500 metres at Bendigo (28.37) and 530 metres at Cannington (30.70).

She has produced some very good winners from her first two litters, whelped in March 2013 by Westmead Osprey* and December 2013 by Milldean Panther*, then has a litter of three dogs and six bitches on file, whelped in February 2015 by Premier Fantasy*.

Two Kilty Lad litters

TWO litters on the list this week by dual Group 1 winning sire Kilty Lad (January 2009 Superman x Sisco Train), who is now standing at stud in Ireland, with early winners on the board from his first crop to race there.

Avalon breeder Brendan Parkinson has the first of his two litters, which has seven dogs and two bitches, from the well bred, unraced bitch, Bren's Pick (January 2013 Cosmic Rumble x Cosmic Goddess), whose dam is by Token Prince x Miss Amberbee (Bobniak x Lovely Portrait).

She is from a litter of three named, which included Brent's Girl and Destinee Saint, with their dam, Cosmic Goddess also producing winners from her five other litters, by Bombastic Shiraz (which included Cosmic Cooper), Brett Lee (which included Cosmic Brigid, Cosmic Chief, Cosmic Diva, Cosmic Planet and Cosmic Medusa), Collision, Hallucinate and Premier Fantasy* with a total of 38 named offspring from her six litters.

Maffra breeder, Leigh Jennings has the other Kilty Lad litter, three dogs and two bitches, from another well bred, unraced bitch, Macalister Belle (January 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Leprechaun Pace), whose dam is by Brett Lee x Leprechaun Yap (Hotshot x Leprechaun Miss).

She is from a litter which included Aye Aye Captain, Zelemar Flash and Zelemar Knight, and worth noting she is a half sister to the proven sire Oaks Road (November 2008 Spiral Nikita* x Leprechaun Pace) and she has two previous litters on file, five bitches, by Cosmic Rumble, whelped in March 2013, then two dogs and five bitches, by Magic Sprite, whelped in November 2014.

My Bro Fabio litter

RUSHWORTH breeders Peter and Shara Cullie have a nice litter of eight pups on the list week by the freakish, three time Group 1 winner, My Bro Fabio (March 2012 Turanza Bale x Flamenco), who raced 52 times for 26 wins and 14 placings, earning stakes of $478,575.

The five dogs and three bitches in the litter are from the well bred bitch, Shiraz Monelli (March 2011 Bombastic Shiraz x ), whose dam is by Premier Fantasy* x Foolish Girl (No Intent x Fool's Fiction) and worth recalling, Fool's Fiction is by the international stud success Roanokee (New Tears x Free Method) from Flaming Fool (Acacia Ablaze x Another Fool).

Shiraz Monelli is from a litter which included Cabernet Monelli, Gooney Monelli, Merlot Monelli, Moselle Monelli, Sherry Monelli and Viva Monelli, with their dam also producing winners from her four other litters, by Collision, Dyna Tron, Magic Sprite and , with a total of 30 named offspring.

On the track she raced 41 times for seven wins and eight placings, winning twice over 302 metres at Mandurah (17.27), where she also won over 405 metres (23.28), twice over 390 metres at Shepparton (22.49) and also over 525 metres at Bendigo (24.49), where she also won over 500 metres (28.44).

According to my breeding records she has two previous litters on five, three dogs and three bitches, whelped in January 2014, with winners from the four named, then seven dogs and four bitches, whelped in October 2014, by Nolen, with a winner from the first two named.

Seven Leprechauns

OUR final litter from the Victorian list this week, with the small list allowing us to review all seven litters, is one of seven pups by champion sire Where's Pedro (April 2002 Brett Lee x Elusive Rebel).

The four dogs and three bitches, registered by astute, Little River breeder, Diane Bartolo, and from the beautifully bred bitch, Leprechaun Macey (May 2011 Bombastic Shiraz x Betty's Angel), whose 2006 Melbourne Cup winning dam, Betty's Angel, is by Brett Lee x Leprechaun Yap (Hotshot x Leprechaun Miss).

Leprechaun Macey is from a litter of three named, which included Johnny Ritza and Quasi, with their dam, also producing winners from both of her other litters, whelped in March 2009 by Spiral Nikita* and January 2010 by Token Prince.

On the track she was lightly raced with just 15 starts for five wins and four placings, winning twice over 725 metres at The Meadows (42.49), where she also won over 525 metres (30.59) and also won over 650 metres at Geelong (39.35) and 715 metres at Sandown (42.25).

NSW Whelping Report

NSW Whelping ReportTURNING our attention to the NSW Whelping Report for the week ending April 23, where again we have a small list of only five litters, which also gives us the unusual opportunity to review every litter.

South Penrith breeder, Michael Hodges, has the first litter, which has three dogs and two bitches, by highly rated stud prospect, Banjo Boy (April 2011 Vee Man Vane x Off Springer) from the very well bred, lightly raced bitch, Redskin (June 2009 Kiowa Sweet Trey* x She's Hot), whose dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x Chili Berger (Elle's Commando x Alice Dooley).

Redskin is from a litter of five named, which included Emily's Hot, George's Dream, Jovi and Power Trey, with their dam, She's Hot also producing winners from her five other litters, by Dyna Lachlan, El Galo, Head Bound*, Pure Octane and Where's Pedro.

On the track, Redskin raced nine times for two wins and one placing, winning over 314 metres at Taree (18.41) and 515 metres at The Gardens (29.87) with a placing over 600 metres at Dapto.

She has some very good winners on file from her first three litters, whelped in November 2012 by El Grand Senor, June 2013 by Collision and August 2014 by Where's Pedro, then has a litter on file of one dog and one bitch, whelped in March 2015 by Barcia Bale.

Can't Knocka this litter

MONDROOK breeder, Ian Rose, has a nice litter of nine pups on the list this week by 2012 Golden Easter Egg winner, Don't Knocka Him (November 2009 Knocka Norris x Surf Queen).

The three dogs and six bitches are from the well bred, lightly raced bitch, Ella Lezah (February 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Zilla), whose dam is by Fortified Rush* x Tammy Lezah (Silent Emotion x Blue Blessing) and worth recalling, Silent Emotion is by Malawi's Prince x Tenthill Flyer (Chariot Supreme x National Queen).

She is from a litter which included Bear Lezah, Don't Pick Me, Eye Eye Sloy, Future Proof, Hot Hits, Mother Little, So Sorry and Viracocha, with their dam, Zilla, also producing winners from both of her other litters, whelped in September 2007, by Big Daddy Cool, which included the New Zealand champion, Little Mother, and December 2008 by Pure Octane.

Ella Lezah raced 14 times for one win and three placings, winning over 400 metres at The Gardens (23.25) with one placing and she was also placed twice over 400 metres at Maitland.

She is already a proven producer, with winners from her first litter, with six named, whelped in September 2013 by Elite State, then she has a litter of three bitches, whelped in October 2014, by Take The Kitty.

Dyna Double One litter

ANOTHER litter for champion sprinter, Dyna Double One (March 2013 Barcia Bale x Crystin Bale), this time nine pups, registered by Ashbury breeder John Staines.

The five dogs and four bitches are from the well bred bitch, Wiradjuri Stand (October 2010 Knocka Norris x Beautiful Pearl), whose dam is by Carnage x Lulu Magoo (Placard x Alight).

She is from a litter of three named, which included Pearly and Devine Amrak, with their dam's only other litter, whelped in June 2009, by Collision, also having only three named, Greysynd Pearl, Plenty Miss and Plenty Pearl.

On the track, Wiradjuri Stand raced 17 times for six wins and four placings, winning twice over 307 metres at Bathurst (17.69), where she also won over 450 metres (25.88), with single wins over 400 metres at (23.21), 400 metres at Richmond (23.21) and 350 metres at Goulburn (20.00).

She has one named offspring on file, Love You Forever from her August 2014 litter of three dogs and two bitches, by Tomac Bale.

Kinloch Brae* litter

NEXT we have a litter of nine pups from Orange breeder, Gregory Board, by successful international sire, Kinloch Brae* (August 2005 Craigie Mo Town x Greys Free Style).

The four dogs and five bitches in the litter, are from the well bred, handy city winner, Country Rebel (December 2007 Hallucinate x Fawn Country), whose dam is by Royal Assassin x Ariek ( x Denver Antics).

Country Rebel is from a handy litter of nine named, which included Country Bell, Country Shark, Country Spot, Cyclone Country, Dark Country, Dynamic Hunter, Tiny Country and Ultimate Country, with their dam, Fawn Country only having two other named offspring on file, Alert Country and Ben's Country, who were whelped in January 2011 by Thai Alert.

On the track, Country Rebel raced 51 times, for 14 wins and 19 placings, winning seven times over 520 metres at Wentworth Park (30.05), four times over 520 metres at Bathurst (30.21), twice over 530 metres at Canberra (30.47) and also over 525 metres at Wagga.

She has three named offspring, all good winners, Country Fox, Country Gun and Country Heat, from her first litter, whelped in November 2012 by Spring Gun, then she has a litter of three dogs and five bitches on file, whelped in January 2015, by Barcia Bale.

Where's the Gold

OUR final litter for review this week has five pups, registered by Illabo breeder, Peter Sims, by champion sire Where's Pedro (April 2002 Brett Lee x Elusive Rebel).

The two dogs and three bitches in this litter, are from the beautifully bred, unraced bitch, Fancy Gold (March 2012 Kinloch Brae* x Flash Fancy), whose very good producing dam is by Brett Lee x Miss Fancy (Barneys Alarm* x Gay's Fancy).

She is from a 100% winning litter, of six named, which included Fancy Kiwi, Fancy Lola, prolific winner, Fancy My Luck, Fancy Rick, Fancy Rover and We No Fancy.

She is a half sister to some outstanding winners, and successful stud dogs, from her dam's six other litters, by Bombastic Shiraz (twice), Collision (twice), Premier Fantasy* and Spring Gun, including Perfect Fancy, Fancy Ace, Fancy Al, Fancy Devil, Fancy Step, Nangar Flame, Nangar Flash, Smooth Fancy, Swift Fancy, Fancy Tip, Fine And Fancy and Gotta Be Fancy.

NSW Stud Service Figures

STUD Service figures released by GRNSW for the month of April, showed champion sprinter Dyna Double One was the stand out sire for the month, with 10 services, followed by Barcia Bale and Febregas with six each, Hay Fergus and Magic Sprite with three each, then Bekim Bale, Don't Knocka Him, , El Grand Senor, Keybow, Kiowa Producer*, My Bro Fabio and Shoulders, with two each, completing the list of sires with multiple services.

Looking at the combined figures for January to April, Dyna Double One is on top with 28 services, followed by Barcia Bale with 18, Fabregas 17, Fernando Bale 11, Magic Sprite 10, Don't Knocka Him 9, El Grand Senor 8, Swift Fancy 7, Dyna Villa 6, Bekim Bale and Kinloch Brae* five each, Collision, Cosmic Rumble, Kiowa Mon Manny* and My Bro Fabio with four each, Banjo Boy, Buck Fever, Hay Fergus, Keybow, Kiowa Producer*, Spring Gun, Sulzanti and Where's Pedro with three each, then Brett Lee, Jarvis Bale, KC And All*, Oaks Road and Shoulders with two each completing the list of all sires with multiple services during the first four months this year.

Bred to Win

BLACK ECLIPSE (Black dog, February 2015 Barcia Bale x Bronelly Dancer). Trained by Tricia Curtain at Cranbourne South and was second, then last over 450 metres at Ballarat before sixth from box four over 515 metres at Sandown (SAP) on August 28, beaten 16 lengths in the race won by Electromagnetic, who ran 29.56 in a maiden heat. Never out of trouble and could improve with experience.

THOMAS DEE (Blue dog, October 2014 Collision x Maddison Dee). Trained at Heathcote by Michael Chilcott and had four unplaced runs, Sandown (SAP), Ballarat and Bendigo before last start second, from box seven, Sandown SAP, August 28, beaten 4.69 lengths by Express Lu, who ran 29.53 in the restricted win heat. Better luck next time.
