Sparrow Baz Returns With Vengeance To Virginia Coursing
With everybody's toes curled up with the cold, coursing got underway with a good 8 event program.
Shaun Laffin's Sparrow Baz returned to coursing with his usual zest when defeating Barry Jones' Slipper's Tonic in 15.21 in the Kennard's Hire Open Stake. John Rees' Mr Miller showed his liking for Virginia when successful in the Emerley Park Novice Stake.
John Mundy had a good day when his two charges, Bobby Dee and Brahma Boy won their respective events. Shaun Matcott's Eagan Bale defeated Vic Kellaway's Jackpot dog, Lola Jean in the Adelaide Plains Vet Surgery Maiden Stake probably spoiling what could have been for Vic.
Ossie Chegia's Les Norton showed his determination when defeating Dale Martin's Cool Colleen.
The Ruby Loans Maiden Stake was won in convincing style by the John Spoolder trained Testie Times in 15.45. It was good to see Cossie Lopresto return to the winner's circle with Dakota Flair in the GOTBA Maiden Stake.
Owners and trainers are reminded that we race again next Sunday, 4 July, and all grades will be catered for. Remember, we are running 2 $500 jackpots and are probably getting close to running 3.
The Club is proud to announce that we are increasing our prizemoney and this will commence from our next meeting. All 8-dog events will provide $220 to the winner and $80 to the runner up, with 4-dog events running for $145 to the winner and $50 to the runner up.
Prizemoney will be reviewed again before the end of the season. Don't forget to nominate with GRSA on Wednesday 30 June by 9.00 am – come along and let your dog have a fun day.
