2015 Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic form, odds and free tips

STAR Anakie trainer Andrea Dailly will fancy her chances in Saturday night's 1 Peter Mosman Classic at Wentworth Park.

Some are calling her prized sprinter Fernando Bale the best greyhound of all time as he shoots for 13 wins in a row, following victories in several big races, including the National Derby and Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park and the Harrison-Dawson at Sandown Park.

But, if he can't get the job done, kennel mates Kenju Bale, Elfen Bale and Dyna Double One will be there to back up their trainer's claims.

That's right, Dailly has half the field in the race, plus a reserve in Lektra Outlaw.

And three of those five are on the top three lines of betting at WilliamHill.com.au, Fernando Bale the favourite at $1.40, with Dyna Double One at $5.50 and Elfen Bale sharing the $9 quote with with No Donuts.

This race is being kept in the family with American super sire Kelsos Fusileer and broodbitch Chloe Allen producing three of the Dailly runners, the Bales: Fernando, Kenju and Elfin.

With 19 wins from 25 race starts, including seven of eight at Wentworth Park, Fernando Bale is certainly the one to beat in the race after a brutal heat win which saw him storm home in 29.47, leaving the rest of the field in his dust, but he will have to negotiate his run from the difficult box four draw.

It was the fastest qualifying time of all the runners set for this race and, if he can come close to that again, it will go a long way toward winning number 13 on the trot and adding to his more than half a million dollar career bounty.

Fernando Bale's litter sister Kenju Bale finished second in her heat and Dyna Double One won its heat with a powerful nine length win over second placed Camacho in 29.54.

Elfen Bale completed the Dailly quartet, the winner searing home in 29.86 in the third semi final.

Worth a princely $75,000 to the winner, the Peter Mosman Classic is the second oldest event on the New South Wales Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association calendar and was named after the former New South Wales chair man Peter Mosman, who died in 1987.

Lets check out the form of each runner in the final, with comments and tips from our form analyst, Brad Bugeja.

“He is an exciting prospect and from the red draw he will get every chance to cause an upset. He has won here previously in a blistering 29.59 and he can show early speed in his races. If the top two fancies happen to miss it away he should be able to capitalise from the good draw and if he finds the top early it will take an almighty performance to reel him in.”

“Big rise in class and faces an uphill battle against these. She was soundly beaten in her heat and she was fairly average in the first round of heats. The rails draw will suit but she will need a lot of things to go right for her to sneak into the money.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $51

“Brilliant beginner and she absolutely flew to the first marker when scoring a slick 29.86 heat win. She actually went quicker than her brother Fernando Bale to the first marker last week and if she reproduces that type of effort she will make Fernando Bale work hard for victory. I don't think she will win the final but she is a definite place hope.”

“Explosive talent and he is easily the hottest chaser on the planet. He is faultless early and as soon as he hits the ground he goes into top gear and his speed can't be matched. The middle pin is a little bit of a worry but he has won eight of nine over this trip and if he steps cleanly he should burn them off and notch up another victory. He is easily the best chaser we have seen for a long time and it really is hard to see him being beaten.”

Box Five: Camacho
Black dog – 31.3kg – April 2013
Fabregas X US Five

Prize money: $29,830
T/D: 5:2-1-0
T/D Best: 30.11
Career Highlights: 3RD 2015 Group 2 Maitland .

“Fast beginner and he appears to be getting a little stronger with every run, however this is a big step up in grade and I can't see him finding the early lead. Great effort to qualify but his racing pattern will make it far too difficult for him.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $21

Box Six: Dear Darcey
Black dog – 35.2kg – August 2013
Barcia Bale X Awesome Star
Trainer: John Ayoub

T/D: 7:4-1-0
T/D Best: 29.89
Career Highlights: WON Wentworth Park 29.89, FINALIST 2015 Group 3 Magic Maiden.

“Showing plenty of promise and he has won four of his seven tries here in impressive fashion. He has the talent to figure in the money, however he races better from inside draws and there appears to be far too much speed drawn underneath.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $34

Box Seven: Tullabung Honey
Black bitch – 26.6kg – February 2013
Barcia Bale X Hidden Assets
Trainer:
Career: 13: 6-1-2
Prize money: $20,895
T/D: 5:2-1-0
T/D Best: 29.77
Career Highlights: 3RD 2015 Group 3 .

“Armed with blistering early speed and she caught the eye when scoring a strong 29.91 heat win here last week. On that occasion she was able to hold off the powerful No Donuts and if she finds the top early she can take some catching. The big concern is that she must lead to win her races and with the abundance of speed drawn nearer the inside she is unlikely to get across.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $17

Box Eight: Dyna Double One
Black dog – 34.1kg – March 2013
Barcia Bale X Crystin Bale
Trainer: Andrea Dailly
Career: 22: 12-5-2
Prize money: $124,760
T/D: 6:3-2-0
T/D Best: 29.54
Career Highlights: WON 2015 Group 3 Perth Cup Consolation, The Meadows 29.43, 2ND 2015 Group 2 WA Derby, 3RD 2015 Group 1 .

“Huge talent which is probably a tad faster than Fernando Bale overall, however he doesn't have the same amount of early speed. In recent weeks he has showed dazzling mid race pace when scoring back to back sub 29.60 heat wins and if he gets across at the first bend he could really make it interesting. If you're looking for value he could be the bet, he can go with the favourite overall and it is very rare for him to go around at $4 or better.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $5.50

1st Reserve: Lektra Outlaw
Brindle dog – 33.1kg – January 2013
Collision X Lektra Angel

Prize money: $42,470
T/D: 5:0-1-2
T/D Best: 29.84
Career Highlights: FINALIST 2015 Group 1 National Derby.

“Consistent type who has raced well here in the past and if he happened to draw favourably he could sneak into some minor money.”

Odds to win the Peter Mosman Classic $51

2nd Reserve: Entreaty
Black bitch – 28.5kg – May 2013
X Kowem Girl
Trainer: Harry Sarkis
Career: 33: 6-6-7
Prize money: $18,990
T/D: 10:3-1-2
T/D Best: 29.94
Career Highlights: WON Wentworth Park 29.94, Gosford 29.88.

“Turned in a solid performance when placed here last week and she can show early speed in her races, however this is a big rise in class and she lacks the brilliance of some of her rivals. Unlikely to make an impact if starts.”
