2015 Group 3 SA Oaks final betting preview & free tips

ANGIE Rocks will be the dog to beat in Thursday's South Australian Oaks at Angle Park despite being drawn awkwardly in box five. Trained by , the daughter of Kinloch Brae and Punk Rock Lass for the final courtesy of a stunning last to first performance in her heat last week, running down fellow finalist Scarp Missile to score by a widening three lengths in 29.65. Angie Rocks, currently $2.05 with William Hill, is a winner of 11 from 24 including four of her last seven starts.

Fellow Victorian Elfen Bale will get the chance to step out of the shadows of her champion brother Fernando Bale when she jumps from box three in the feature. Already the winner of the Group 3 , Elfen Bale, $4.80 with Bet365, has put together a handy record throughout her career to date – having won 13 races from 37 starts with a further 14 minor placings. The daughter of Kelsos Fusileer and Chloe Allen ran a solid second at her track debut last week behind local chaser Nit Noi and is bound to improve heading into the final for team Dailly.

Another interstate chaser which will be looking to steal the prize is Jamaica The Fun for WA mentor . The black bitch is racing in a rich vein of form at present, having only missed the place once in her last 10 appearances, but will have to the hard way from box eight on Thursday night.

The leading local charge appears to be Scarp Missile, rated an $8 shot with Bet365, which led early before fading to finish second behind Angie Rocks in last Thursday's qualifier. A repeat performance this week would see the daughter of and Barney's Beauty up near the lead early, a position which is enviable in big race finals.

The Group 3 SA Oaks is race eight on the card and will jump at 9:42pm AEST.

Lets check out the form of each runner, with tips and comments from our expert form analyst, Brad Bugeja.

Career: 25: 7-3-5

T/D Best: 30.14

“Definitely not the most talented chaser in the event, but she is more than capable on her night and from the red draw she could run a very cheeky race at odds. Last week she was just average to begin but she managed to work to the line solidly enough. From the red tonight I would expect her to show a bit more early dash, and if she happened to settle in the top two she could cause an upset. Angie Rocks is the clear top pick but if you're looking for some value, she could be a great place bet.”

“Absolutely scorched early last week when placed behind Angie Rocks and a similar effort tonight would see her figure prominently again. The only concern with her tonight is she has plenty of speed drawn around her and in the past she has been better to begin when drawn out wide. Very impressive when placed last week, but I think she will find tonight's task beyond her.”

Odds to win the SA Oaks: $8 with Bet365

Box Three – Elfen Bale
White and Dark Brindle Bitch – 26.1kg – March 2013
Kelsos Fusileer x Chloe Allen
Prize money: $102,905
Trainer: Andrea Dailly
Career: 37: 13-10-4
T/D: 1: 0-1-0
T/D Best: 30.21

“Class act and she will be looking to atone for last week's luckless heat effort. She was having her first look at the track last week and after being slow to begin she had to work very hard to get back into contention. She is normally a much better beginner than that and I can see her settling in the top two tonight – if that is the case she will prove very hard to reel in. She is clearly the second best chaser in the event and she should make her presence felt.”

Odds to win the SA Oaks: $4.80 with Bet365

Box Four – Cosmic Owl
Black Bitch – 25.9kg – March 2013
x Coulta Sky
Prize money: $29,545
Trainer:
Career: 36: 8-5-4
T/D: 1: 1-0-0
T/D Best: 29.94

“Returned to form with a commanding 29.94 heat win last week and with another good getaway she has the talent to test the favourite. The middle pin is a big concern though tonight as she did exit the red draw last week and there is an abundance of speed in boxes one, two and three. If she goes around at silly odds she is worth a bet, but she will need everything to go her way.”

Odds to win the SA Oaks: $11 with William Hill

Box Five – Angie Rocks
Black Bitch – 28.6kg – July 2013
Kinloch Brae x Punk Rock Lass
Prize money: $97,675
Trainer: Mario Briganti
Career: 24: 11-5-2
T/D: 1: 1-0-0
T/D Best: 29.65

“Powerhouse chaser and with a clear passage she should blow her rivals away. Last week she was slow to begin but she was able to roar to the line and she looked highly impressive when posting a sizzling 29.65. Talent wise, she has around four lengths on her nearest rival. However, I am a little concerned about the speed drawn in box six. Mrs Bubbles can show pace in her races and she will be looking for the fence, so Angie Rocks will need some luck in the initial stages. Will start under the odds but really is a freak and she will take a power of beating.”

Box Six – Mrs Bubbles
Brindle Bitch – 28.5kg – May 2013
x Kiowa Angel
Prize money: $36,420
Trainer: Matthew Payne
Career: 35: 15-8-2
T/D: 17: 5-5-2
T/D Best: 29.91

“Has a great record here and she is capable of running time when on the lure, but from the wider draw tonight she may have some trouble getting across in the initial stages. Would be great to see her win for local followers but she really does have her work cut out.”

Odds to win the SA Oaks: $20 with Luxbet

Box Seven – Nit Noi
Black Bitch – 24.9kg – July 2013
Where's Pedro x Midnight Quest
Prize money: $8.595
Trainer: Lauren Harris
Career: 22: 4-7-2
T/D: 8: 1-2-0
T/D Best: 29.99

“Showed great improvement with her commanding 29.99 heat win last week and it appears that she will continue to get better with racing. The red draw was a big advantage last week though and from the seven tonight I can't see her getting across. Great effort to qualify but I can't see her worrying the judge.”

Odds to win the SA Oaks: $35 with Luxbet

Box Eight – Jamaica The Fun
Black Bitch – 28.8kg – July 2013
Kinloch Brae x Alotta Fun
Prize money: $27,175
Trainer: Lexia Isaac
Career: 27: 8-10-1
T/D: 1: 1-0-0
T/D Best: 30.00

“Star WA chaser who is blessed with blinding early speed and she had that on display when scoring here last week in 30 flat. Her final 40m or so is always a worry when she takes on this distance. However, last week she did look a little lost through the corners, so I would expect her to be able to go a bit quicker on the clock tonight. It's a tough ask to cross from out wide in this event, but out of all the finalists she is probably the one with the most genuine early speed. If she goes around at silly odds she could be worth an each way ticket.”
