He has been taking on some of the best stayers in the land lately and he has been more than competitive in those races. Tonight he is dropping considerably in class and with an ounce of luck early he should be winning. There is a little bit of speed drawn on the inside but those runners will struggle in the run home so I'm expecting him to pick them off late in the race. He is currently $2.80 and that is fantastic odds.
Leg 2 – Cranbourne – Race 8: Dewana Hitman To Place $1.91
He was a tad disappointing when placed here during the week but I'm expecting him to be improved by that effort and from the favourable draw he will take some stopping. There is very little speed drawn underneath, so with a good getaway he should be able to carve across and lead, the last 30m is a slight concern but he should run a bottler. For the multi, I think the place option is the safest option but at the $6 for the win it might be worth having something on him on the nose also.
Leg 3 – Wentworth Park – Race 4: Laugh With Mary To win $2.10
She has always showed great staying potential but in recent weeks she appears to have gone to the next level. Two starts back she showed great early speed but she was also very strong in the run home when posting a slick 42.18 victory here. The small field should suit and I'm expecting her to roll to the early lead and score quite easily. The pink is a big danger but I think she will be too strong for him as they near the finish line.
