Greyhound Racing Tips For Monday 31st August 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's Greyhound Racing Tips for Monday 31st August 2009 with Tips tonight from Cranbourne (Victoria), (New South Wales), (Queensland) and (New South Wales).

If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet get yourself set up with an account at Sportsbet, most Australians are still eligible for a $50 free bet, no deposit required at one of Ausralia's leading corporate bookies.

With racing from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (New South Wales), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.

Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races.

The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.

Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90's. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for connections and there are very few genuine stayers.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 5 – Next Top Model

No reason to jump off the Jason Thompson trained Next Top Model who we've been on at both her last 2 starts here. Is putting it all together now and last start won the low grade final here after a 30.61 heat win. Hasn;t been beaten here yet in 2 starts both from middle boxes and shouldn't have too much trouble again at third run here in a row.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Mick The Mozz

After a slow start to his career Mick The Mozz has now won all 4 of his last starts in a row at Geelong and last start at Warrnambool. Has a PB of 25.65 at Geelong and 25.72 at Warrnambool, which suggests above average ability. Has shown early pace at those wins and with box 1 tonight should be able to lead again.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 1 – Box 1 – Freaky Lee

Freaky Lee was always going to be a risk on Saturday night off a wide draw in a reasonably handy field. As it turned out it was decided leaders track and Freaky Lee couldn't get over from box 7 after missing it. Off box 1 tonight he will get every chance and has started twice of the red for 2 wins including his 30.59 debut effort here last week.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 1 – Feel The Fear

Extremely weak 5th grade and Feel The Fear looks a good bet from box 1. Has started here twice for a slow 30.86 win, but the added advantage of box 1 should tip the scales in here favour. Has been thereabouts at recent starts on non-tab tracks and isn't the worst.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Natalie Rass

Interesting little staying race with the in form Jumpin' Canary starting for Mark Bell and Darren McDonald effectively with two runners, as Graham Jose trains out D Mac's kennels, although some form guides have the trainer listed as Trevor Jones? Whichever the case Laura's Legacy who is one of 3 greyhounds that jointly holds the Richmond stayers and showed a much awaited return to form last start at The Gardens winning by 5.5 lengths in 42.85. Must go one with it now and the others outside of Natalie Rass, are only just thereabouts at best as stayers.
