Greyhound Racing Tips For Thursday 5th March 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's free greyhound racing tips for Thursday 5th March 2009. Despite working 'round the favourites in most races yesterday, we didn't quite get the result we were looking for without being that far away.

Of course those that didn't like our greyhound tips, did very well laying them on Betfair last night and without risking very much at all; those willing to lay our selections are currently up around $39.

Tonight's greyhound racing comes from Park (Victoria), Dapto (New South Wales), (Queensland) and Angle Park (South Australia.

Sandown Park is considered one of the best two turn tracks in the country and plays reasonably fairly, although there is a slight bias towards railers and greyhounds on the speed.

Dapto is a track greyhounds either handle or they don't. Favouring early speed greyhounds over all distances, it is one of the few tracks in Australian greyhound racing where dogs can race extremely wide and still make ground. Look for greyhounds with exposed form on the track.

Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on lure system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.

Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for and there are very few genuine stayers.

Sandown Park – Race 5 – Box 7 – Shooting Star

If had've drawn the 8 box here, we could've been more confident; having won 7 of his 16 races from the pink. Nevertheless, Shooting Star won well at 2 starts back from this box before running 3rd there from box 3. The greyhound drawn to his outside, Cash Express is out of form and has been beginning poorly, so fresh from a short let up, Shooting Star should get the run to cross them here and lead all the way at odds.

Sandown Park – Race 7 – Box 2 – Hastings Bale

Class greyhound at his best who missed it here last week and costs punters plenty from the red box. Hard to back up, but only has to begin to slaughter this field and trainer Graeme Bate is running hot this week.

Sandown Park – Race 9 – Box 1 – Tad Rusty

Tad Rusty, the Sale first sectional record holder has drawn box 1 in this average field of beginners and should lead easily down the back straight. This run is about as far as he wants it, but Tad Rusty should get a good enough break on them here to get home.

Dapto – Race 1 – Box 8 – Physical

Trained locally by Ruth King and owned by prolific “silent partner” John McGreary, this son of is on debut but is well related through his damline to El Galo, Miss Hot Gossip and Robartson's Guess line of greyhounds. Sure to be well educated and is a brother to the “Seona Hood” owned Ipswich Vince Curry Memorial 30.67 heat winner, .

Dapto – Race 5 – Box 6 – Me Boss

The Owen Makin trained Me Boss looks well placed in this field and despite the green draw can lead this field a merry dance at odds. The son of Solve The Puzzle ~ Summer Bliss has had 6 starts at Dapto for 2 wins and 2 places and has won from this draw before.

Dapto – Race 9 – Box 1 – Thai Agent

Brother to promising Tian Hao Miss and half brother to Repeated and Hendrix in the same trainer's hands. Gets his second inside box draw in 4 starts , having won at the only other occassion off the inside. The rest of the field is to put it mildy, average at best. Just jump on and enjoy the ride.

Albion Park – Race 2 – Box 2 – Bikini Beach

Loathe as I am to play in these “weak” staying races, from box 4 was able to comfortably lead Mitolo Jester (box 1 ) last week and was going well enough to hold off (box 6) who has the same draw agiain this week. The move to box 2 only improves her chances, and while I'm sure most of these are just winning in turn, Bikini Beach should lead again and does her best work when in front.

Albion Park – Race 8 – Box 8 – Special Sign

Visiting Victorian is in the very capable hands of Russsell McRae and is blessed with an abundance of early toe. This speedy daughter of Exceptional and Semaphore has won 8 of her last 10 starts and one of the 2 defeats was an excellent second to Bo Frazier in the Group 2 Rookie Rebel at The Meadows over 600m. She bounced back from that defeat to run best of the night at Cranbourne over 530m and she should lead and be too good here, despite box 8.

Angle Park – Race 1 – Box 1 – Authentic Gal

The Ken McAuley trained Authentic Gal has had 8 starts for 5 wins and this is her first start from box 1, having won all her races from boxes 3,4,5 and 6. Tonight this smart bitch on the way up finds herself against very moderate opposition and she should acount for them easily.

Angle Park – Race 8 – Box 8 – Scull Murphy

The people's champ returns home from a luckless campaign to Melbourne for the Group 1 Temlee. The “Scull” is not getting any younger but as he demonstrated by his narrow defeat in the Group 1 , he is a major force to be reckoned with at his home track. Fresh from a short break and drawn the outside of the field, I think people will take him on in the betting, so we're likely to be getting very good value for the best dog in the field.
