Group 2 Warrnambool Classic – free tips and full betting preview

CACTUS Jack looks destined to score the biggest win of his short career on Wednesday night when he lines up in the Warrnambool Classic (450m).

Trained by Brett Bravo, the son of Barcia Bale and Size It Up is the $4.40 favourite with William Hill to claim the $75,000 winner's cheque at just his eighth career start. The black dog has been racing well throughout the series, finishing a narrow second behind Spritely in his heat before stamping himself as a serious contender with a slashing 25.00 semi-final performance off box four last week. The main concern for Cactus Jack on Thursday will be his box manners which won't be helped by an awkward draw in box five.

Looking to take advantage of the favourite's tardiness out of the traps will be Aeroplane Bob (box seven) for . The black dog is probably better suited towards the fence, but should get a nice run into the race on the outside of lid pinger Magic Is Might (box six). The son of Turanza Bale and Ritza Night has a big motor and should be capable of bettering his 25.18 personal best over the track and trip if he can find the bunny. Worth a bet at $5 with .

Also given a big chance is One For Me off box four. The Jeff Britton prepared greyhound is rated a $5 shot and is racing in career best form. If he can reproduce his 24.94 heat win it would be hard to see them beating him, however he can be hit or miss at the start which makes it tricky to tip him from box four.

A price of $6 is on offer for both Connemara Black and which are set to jump from boxes one and three respectively.

Connemara Black won his heat in 25.23 before finishing second behind Shep (box eight) in his semi, while Kilty Express will be aiming to remain unbeaten throughout the series after two dominant wins, the fastest of which was a 25.11 performance off box two.

In an open race, Striker Klinsman is also under double figure odds, the best price around for him being $9 with Sportsbet. David Geall's greyhound is well drawn in box two and would only need to run up to his 25.01 heat win to make an impact in the final.

Rounding out the field are Magic Is Might ($11) and Shep ($18). Both have raced well throughout the series but would need to improve on their overall times to take home the title on Wednesday night.

The Group 2 Warrnambool Classic is race eight on the card and is set to jump at 9:22pm.
