Race 1 – 515M Grade 5 – 7:08PM

The first race looks to be a wide open affair and I have decided to settle on the class factor. Athletica has been racing in much tougher company of late and she looks ideally placed in box eight. If you go back through her form, she looked mighty impressive when she stormed home to score a 25.46 Warrnambool win in late March. She won't find an easier race in town, if you sight $5.50 or better she is a great each way bet.

Enjoy Cruising has only raced twice but he is unbeaten and both times he took best of the night honours. In his brief career to date, he has shown smart early speed and with a clean beginning he should be able to roll to the early lead. The trip is a big concern but this race is not overly strong. Zipping Bart has shown some talent of late and he is armed with a powerful finish, may be a good one to anchor for third and fourth in exotics.

Top Four: 8 – 4 – 3 – 1

Suggested Bets: Win bet on Athletica, rove in quinella with 1,3,4.

Race 2 – 515M Grade 5 – 7:25PM

I know I stated that I was going to give up on Zipping Snoopy, but he looks suited once again. After scoring at Shepparton in a sizzling 25.25, he has experienced no luck in three subsequent runs at The Meadows. Tonight he has a slow beginner drawn directly underneath and if he can anticipate the start he should settle in the first three. He is likely to be double figures and I think we can get some of our cash back tonight.

Peter Pettigrew drops a little in class tonight and he tends to do his best racing here. He is likely to get a long way back early but there are a couple of front runners here who will fall in a hole late. If you are looking for a place bet, he will be enormous value. Rumero Reason and Mamma Hook look to be the other winning hopes. Grubby and Pure Mayhem are the two likely favourites but in my opinion, they are both drawn poorly and won't get into the race.

Top Four: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4

Suggested Bets:

Trifecta: 2,3,5/2,3,4,5/1,2,3,4,5,7 ($36 for $1)

Trifecta: 3/2,4,5/Field ($18 for $1)

Boxed Quinella: 2,3,4,5 ($12 for $1)

Race 3 – 595M Mixed 4/5 – 7:44PM

Very open race with numerous winning chances. I've settled on the inside division and I think they will dominate the race. Dyna York looks perfectly placed in the red and in April he posted three brilliant 600m Meadows wins. With fast beginners drawn in two or three, I believe he should get a perfect sit just behind them and he will prove far too strong in the run home. You might be able to get $5.50 or better.

Tweed Bah Day has experienced no luck since joining the Greenough kennel and tonight he should get his chance to atone. With Go Mobo drawn directly underneath, it gives me a lot more confidence that he will experience a trouble free passage in the early stages. When given clear galloping space he is one very fast animal. Go Mobo will set the pace and he is a great place hope, whilst Zell Bale is much better than his recent form and he must be included in the exotics.

Top Four: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5

Suggested Bets:

Trifecta: 1/3,4,5/2,3,4,5,7,8 ($15 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,4/1,3,4,5/1,2,3,4,5,7,8 ($30 for $1)

Race 4 – 515M Grade 5 – 8:08PM

The explosive Mepunga Armagh is likely to start short odds but it is very hard to see him being beaten. After a three month spell, he returned to the track in dashing style with a sizzling 25.06 Warrnambool win. In that performance he downed the class act . Normally a reliable beginner, he should have sufficient speed to roll to the lead and from there on it should be a matter of times and margins.

Jordan Allen has not won for a while but he is much better than his form suggests and he should be given every chance from his good draw. Last week he was far from disgraced when placed here behind Hellyeah Bolt and he is likely to be over the odds tonight, so it is worth taking him in quinellas and trifectas with the favourite. Roy Galo is another who is out of form and down on confidence, however he has drawn his favourite box tonight, with luck initially he should be in the mix.

Top Four: 2 – 1 – 8 – 4

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 2/1,8/Field ($12 for $1)

Trifecta: 2/1,4,8/1,4,8 ($6 for $1)

Quinella: 2 to rove with 1 & 8.

Race 5 – 515M Free For All Listed Event – 8:28PM

In what is a quality affair, I have decided to give Banjo Boy the nod. Last week in the Harrison/Dawson final he missed the kick and didn't experience a lot of luck in running. Tonight I think he will step on terms and that should allow him to drive to the early lead at the first bend. Two starts ago he showed that he was back to his best with a sizzling 29.34 win here and a repeat of that will see him salute again.

Awesome Project is expected to start favourite but I think he is poorly drawn tonight. He can be a little hit or miss at box rise and there is a fair bit of early speed drawn outside him tonight, definitely worth risking. Cornelius Fudge has a top record at this track and he is armed with a big finish. With Banjo Boy getting the fly early I'm expecting there to be a bit of trouble early which should allow him to settle much closer to the early speed. Hawk Alone is always chance in these sort of races, whilst Musquin Bale is in great form but doesn't look suited from his wide draw.

Top Four: 3 – 6 – 7 – 1

Suggested Bet: Win bet on Banjo Boy, this really looks his race.

Race 6 – 715M Listed Event – 8:52PM

Xylia Allen is a class act and she was never out of trouble in a heat of the Sandown Cup here last week. Tonight there doesn't appear to be a lot of early speed drawn directly underneath her and this should allow her to assume control soon after box rise. She has recorded her last two staying victories when leading clearly and both times she smashed the respective . You will be asked to take as short as $1.80 but I think she is a good thing.

Infinite Wish doesn't win a lot these days but she does seem to run a lot of placings. In a field which lacks a lot of depth outside the favourite, she should be able to settle mid field and run over the top of some tiring chasers late in the race. If Xylia Allen is too short to back straight out then maybe Infinite Wish could be a great place bet for you, I expect her to be around the $2.50 mark for the place. Heaps Of Ability is well named and he has been super impressive since stepping up to the staying ranks. Three of his five wins have come from wide draws and he does have a scorching 41.69 PB here.

Top Four: 5 – 6 – 8 – 2

Suggested Bets:

Trifecta: 5/2,6,8/2,6,8 ($6 for $1)

Trifecta: 5/6,8/Field ($12 for $1)

Race 7 – 515M Mixed 3/4 – 9:11PM

Crawf's Bread has been racing in consistent style of late and with slow beginners drawn either side tonight he should get every chance. If you go back through his form he was an impressive 29.37 winner here in March and that would be more than enough to win this event. The only knock on him is that to win over this trip, he must cross and lead clearly to win. At around the $8.00 mark he is worth the risk.

Zipping Brock has been racing without luck in recent times and tonight he returns to his favourite track. He has won two of his three tries here and he is unbeaten from this box draw. The last time he exited the pink alley, he set the track alight with a 29.46 Gardens win. Allen Eryk is very hit or miss early but he is very explosive when he hits. The only other winning chance appears to be Bogner Bale, he should be over the odds and has the ability to cause a boilover.

Top Four: 4 – 8 – 3 – 6

Suggested Bet: Win bets on Crawf's Bread and Zipping Brock.

Race 8 – 715M Group One Sandown Cup Final – 9:41PM

In all honesty, this is probably the weakest Group One Final we have seen for a while and the trained looks to have a stranglehold on the event. After finding loads of bother early in last week's heat, Sweet It Is wound up late to grab second and qualify for the final, which appears to have quite a few front runners who struggle in the run home which should work into her favour. You will have to take short odds about a chaser who will drop out early, but she looks to have panels on this lot.

Zipping Joe looks to be the main danger and he really caught my eye last week. He never really got a clear crack at them last week but he still managed to hit the line well and go down narrowly in the fastest heat of the night. Like his kennelmate Sweet It Is, the lack of strength in tonight's final should give him every chance to feature. Break O'Day and likely leader Mepunga Tiara look to be the only other genuine winning hopes.

Top Four: 7 – 3 – 2 – 8

Suggested Bets:

Trifecta: 7/2,3,8/Field ($18 for $1)

Trifecta: 3,7/3,7/Field ($12 for $1)

Quinella: 7 to rove with 2 & 3.

Race 9 – 515M Grade 5 Final – 10:12PM

Dyna Ostrander is a highly promising speedster and his performances in his past two starts have been enormous. His box manners aren't the best but he is blessed with a dazzling turn of foot and with a fast beginner drawn underneath, he should get a clear run in the early stages. If you can find $4.00 or better, I think that is good shopping as this bloke has the ability to run 29.30 or faster on the .

Mepunga Hayley is the class act and since I gave up on her she has recorded two sensational victories. Tonight's draw doesn't really suit but she has the ability to lead or come from off the speed, so provided she doesn't find too much bother she should figure in the finish. Yakamov Bale is the other obvious winning hope in the race. I think he will make the race for Dyna Ostrander, but if he makes any mistakes, Yakamov Bale should be able to take advantage from the red alley.

Top Four: 2 – 7 – 1 – 5

Suggested Bet: Win bet on Dyna Ostrander, very on this one.

Race 10 – 515M Mixed 4/5 – 10:37PM

Prue Bale has been racing in much stronger company of late and she should relish the class drop. Normally a reliable beginner, she should have more than enough speed to cross to the early lead and from there on it will be hard to see her being reeled in. With the wide running Clone Your Own drawn directly outside her, this will enhance her chances even more.

Ollie Bale was a finalist in the Group One recently, so he too should be suited in this class. In recent months he has been beginning much better in his races and if he can reproduce his slick 29.36 PB run, he should be in the mix. Mepunga Fearon will be well fancied but I don't think he is suited tonight, whilst Smart Maxwell is likely to start long odds but he has the ability to cause a boilover.

Top Four: 5 – 8 – 2 – 6

Suggested Bet: Win bet on Prue Bale, should lead all the way.

Race 11 – 515M Grade 5 – 10:58PM

Exciting talent Avondale Porche has recently joined the powerful kennel and she should be primed for a bold first up showing. Before sustaining an injury in December last year she had taken all before her winning her first nine starts and in the process recording four consecutive sub 30 second wins. I am quite confident that will have her fully wound up for tonight's race.

Allen Zentax recently recorded two impressive all the way wins at The Meadows and if he can step on terms, he should be a major player again. Tonight he has the speedy Crowdza Captive drawn directly underneath and if he can follow her across in the early stages he should get every chance. Obviously Avondale Porche has him covered for talent, but if the favourite doesn't cross he should be in a position to capitalise. Dyna Yenite has been racing in very consistent fashion and he must be included in exotic bets.

Top Four: 8 – 4 – 7 – 2

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 8/2,4,7/Field ($18 for $1)

Race 12 – 515M Grade 5 – 11:15PM

Very tough race to end the night but I think the well boxed Trail Blazing can send us out on a high. Two of his six wins to date have come from this draw and if you go back through his form you will note he set the Warrnambool track alight in April with a heat and semi win of the Group Two Warrnambool Classic. He can take a few strides to muster speed, but that is why the pink draw should suit him. You should be able to get around $5.50 or better.

Shine can be a little hit or miss at box rise but she can record slick times on the lure. This event appears to lack genuine early speed and this should allow her to settle in the first two. She is likely to start $8.00 or better and it may be worthwhile backing both of them straight out. Spring Charlotte returned to form last start, whilst Missile Flash has been racing in very consistent style, they look to be the other winning hopes.

Top Four : 8 – 4 – 2 – 7

Suggested Bets: Win bets on Trail Blazing and Shine (more on Trail Blazing).
