Leg 1 – Warragul – Race 4: Mervue To Place (Top Two Finish) $2.50
Mervue is a promising speedster and he appears to be getting better and stronger with every run. Tonight he finds himself in a race which lacks genuine early speed, so with a clean getaway he should pounce on the early lead and set up a nice lead mid race. His last 30m can be a little suspect but he should have a nice lead turning for home and he should be able to hold on to a top two finish.
Leg 2 – Geelong – Race 5: Deano's Gadget To Place $2.88
Deano's Gadget is much better than her form reads and she is drawn to get the gun run. Back in September she turned in a huge performance when placed at Bendigo in fast time and a similar performance today will see her figure in the finish. This is a big drop in class and I think she is well over the odds, she is currently around the $11 mark and it might be worthwhile backing her for the win separately as well.
Leg 3 – Ipswich – Race 9: Shyan Yahoo To Place $1.91
Shyan Yahoo does his best racing here and with the early speed in the one and three, he appears drawn to get the run of the race. He isn't explosive early but he does have solid speed and he should settle in around third or fourth and his last 200m will be the best part of his race. I chose to take him for the place because he hasn't won for a little while and he may find it hard to reel in the early leader, however from the draw I can't see him missing the top three.
