The Meadows Greyhounds Tips & Betting Preview April 5th 2014

Race 1 – 525M Grade 5 – 7:12PM

The promising Allen Gravion is unbeaten in three starts to date and all of those wins have been in slick time. Tonight he should once again get a clear run initially and prove too strong for his rivals.

Rumero Reason caught the eye when winning over this trip from this draw last month. He should be able to get a nice sit in the early stages and figure in the finish. Pure Mayhem is also when drawn and must be respected.

Top Four:             2 – 1 – 8 – 5

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 2/1,5,8/Field ($18 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,2,8/1,2,8/1,2,3,5,6,8 ($24 for $1)

Race 2 – 525M Grade 5 – 7:35PM

She Can Whirl has shown an abundance of early speed in her career to date and if she can find the early lead again she looks well placed in this event. The last 40 metres is the only concern.

Trail Blazing has scored two top wins of late on the provincial circuit but he does have terrible box manners. He misses the start too often so he is worth risking. Dynamic Luke continues to improve.

Top Four:             7 – 3 – 2 – 8

Suggested Bet: Each Way She Can Whirl, Rove in quinellas with 2,3,8

Race 3 – 525M Grade 5 – 8:00PM

Yambla Mick has a tremendous record from this trap having been placed in all six tries which includes three wins. He recently beat a handy field at and with a lack of early speed outside he should hold the early lead and win.

Take Charge clearly has the most ability of any chaser but his box draw may bring him undone tonight. Allen Orville looks to be the main danger to Yambla Mick.

Top Four:             1 – 3 – 6 – 7

Suggested Bet: Both Yambla Mick and Allen Orville to win, have more on Mick.

Race 4 – 525M Grade 5 Final – 8:22PM

He is going to be extremely short in the market but it is hard to look past Rumble Comet. After finding early bother in his heat, this black powerhouse put a space in his rivals off the back straight before winning in 29.85. Wins again.

Woodnear is  very reliable early and  with a clean beginning he should find himself setting the tempo once again. It is hard to see him holding off the favourite but he will give a sight.

Top Four:             1 – 4 – 7 – 2

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 1/4/Field ($6 for $1)

Trifecta: 1/2,4,7/Field ($18 for $1)

Race 5 – 520M Grade 4 – 8:38PM

In a race with loads of early speed, I think Cairnlea Ellie may have the sufficient speed to cross. She is first up from a brief spell tonight so the last 30 metres may pose a problem, however I think she will have built up a big enough lead.

Punch It could be the value in the race and should be double figures, but like Cairnlea Ellie she is armed with early speed. If she can find herself in front or near the lead she can salute at big odds.

Top Four:             5 – 3 – 7 – 8

Suggested Bet: Win bets on Cairnlea Ellie and Punch It, have more on Cairnlea Ellie.

Race 6 – 525M Grade 5 Final – 9:00PM

Osbourne Bale surprised a few when he came from off the speed to score at Sandown last start. Normally he is a very reliable beginner and tonight there doesn't appear to be much speed drawn underneath him. You should be able to get $7.50 or better and he is worth an each way ticket.

Unix Bale tends to race well here and I would expect him to be hitting the line hard. Anchor him in your exotics for second and third. Bogner Bale is likely to start favourite and he would need to ping and lead to win this.

Top Four:             3 – 4 – 5 – 6

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 3,4,5/1,4,5,6/1,4,5,6 ($18 for $1)

Trifecta: 3/4/Field ($6 for $1)

Trifecta: 3/Field/4 ($6 for $1)

Race 7 – 600M Mixed 4/5 – 9:20PM

The ideally draw Good Odds Punk has found a leg of late and he is racing in career best form. Tonight he races over a very suitable trip and he exits a draw in which he has won eight races from and placed in a further six. He should be around the $3.00 mark and I think that is great value.

Alpe D'Huez is a class act but he has been missing the start more often in recent times. He may get shuffled too far back tonight. Abbey's Hand looks the leader and if she can repeat her 34.21 Sandown win she will prove hard to catch at odds.

Top Four:             1 – 5 – 3 – 4

Suggested Bet: Load up on Good Odds Punk and have a small saver on Abbey's Hand

Race 8 – 525M Mixed 3/4 – 9:37PM

One winner Kiss Me Ketut is surprisingly well drawn out in box six. He is unbeaten in four tries from this pin and he has a 29.77 PB here. With slow beginners drawn either side, he should get every chance to lead throughout.

Gold Town is ever reliable and he is more than capable in this class. My only concern is that he will be giving them a big head start tonight, anchor him in exotics for third and fourth. Tams Wish has the speed to hold a forward spot early but she may be vulnerable in the last 40 metres.

Top Four:             6 – 1 – 8 – 3

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 6/1,3,8/Field ($18 for $1)

First Four: 6/1,2,3,5/8/Field ($24 for $1)

First Four: 6/1,2,3,5/Field/8 ($24 for $1)

Race 9 – 525M Mixed 4/5 – 9:57PM

The trained Fancy is facing a big drop in class tonight and with an ounce of luck in the initial stages he should get the cash. There doesn't seem to be a lot of early speed drawn underneath him so it would be no surprise to see him lead all the way.

Gimme Fuel is normally a reliable beginner and he should be able to follow the Amigo across in the early stages. I don't think he can reel the leader in but he should hold on for the quinella. Usagi Bale is the run on dog, must include in the exotics.

Top Four:             5 – 6 – 3 – 4

Suggested Bet: Fancy Amigo to win with Sportsbet. Use your $250 free bet here.

Race 10 – 525M Grade 5 – 10:20PM

In the toughest race of the night, I think there are two runners which stand out. Johnny Heritage has been placed in his past three starts and is bursting to breakthrough. He musters pace very quickly and with a clear run initially he will make his presence felt.

Spring Charlotte has had her struggles of late but she is dropping significantly in class. She has been finding loads of bother soon after box rise, tonight she may be able to get some room early and settle much closer to the speed.

Top Four:             4 – 6 – 5 – 1

Suggested Bet: Win bets on both Johnny Heritage and Spring Charlotte.

Race 11 – 525M Grade 5 – 10:42PM

Fearsome Mint had his first look at the track last week when solidly placed. He is sure to have derived a lot of benefit from that run and I expect him to improve dramatically. I Expect him to be vying for the early lead and to take control mid race.

El Roscoe has been racing in consistent fashion and he should get his chance to figure prominently again. With slow beginners drawn either side he should be able to settle close to the speed. He will be double figures and is worth a saver bet.

Top Four:             8 – 2 – 7 – 1

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 2,8/1,2,7,8/Field ($36 for $1)

Trifecta: 2,8/2,8/Field ($12 for $1)

Race 12 – 525M Grade 5 – 11:00PM

In the get out stakes, I think we can find some value. Soul Eater has a great turn of foot and with slow beginners drawn either side he should get every chance to muster speed. I expect him to settle in the first three and he will prove too strong in the run home.

Bit Berger has good box manners and she should be in the mix throughout. The last 50m may be a concern but she may have built up a solid lead in the early stages. Truly Royal and Buxton Miss must be included in the exotics.

Top Four:             7 – 4 – 1 – 3

Suggested Bet: Win bets on both Soul Eater and Bit Berger at Sportingbet.

Quaddies
