Tough race to kick off the night and I think the box draw will be a major factor. Breaking News has come up with the red draw and she was a steady 30.96 heat winner last week. The time wasn't flashy but she did find a little bit of trouble in running, so with a clear run she should be able to go much quicker. Her first section of 5.17 was the quickest of the three heats and she has raced over the 600m journey prior to her heat, so she will be much stronger in the run home than most of her opponents.

Droopy's Bentley won impressively on debut in a more than handy 30.52 and if he can reproduce that effort he should be in the finish again. The only concern with him is that he will be looking for the rail soon after box rise. Roethlisberger is the run on dog in the event and he hasn't had a lot of luck in his six starts to date. He will get a long way back early but if there is some shuffling up front he should be there to capitalise on it.

Top Four: 1 – 7 – 6 – 8

Suggested Bets:

8FLYING TWIST [5]22T7730.11(1)A Dailly (Anakie)

Bazza's Gift has been racing in much stronger company of late and he looks suited in this event. Being a wide runner, the six box is actually quite favourable for him and I would expect him to settle in the top two as they head into the first bend. Two starts ago he was beaten by less than four lengths behind gun sprinter Marcus Joe and this race should be a nice confidence booster for him.

Allen Gravion powered to the line when scoring here recently in 30.35 and with an ounce of luck early he should be there at the business end. He has been missing the kick of late but his first sectionals haven't been too bad, so provided he doesn't get crowded initially he should be able to settle fairly close. Tweak probably rounds out the winning chances, he loves racing at this venue and after two solid Sandown placings he appears to be knocking on the door for another win. Like Allen Gravion, he can be slow to begin and he will need a bit of luck in the early stages.

8FORT ALLEN (NSW)[5]6227330.18(8)A Dailly (Anakie)

Fort Allen has raced well from the pink draw in the past and he should appreciate the enormous drop in class tonight. He is clearly the most reliable beginner in the field and he can consistently run sub 5.10 to the first marker here, if he can produce that type of effort that should allow him to cross to the early lead and he is likely to zip away off the back straight. His last 40m isn't the strongest part of his race but this race lacks depth and he should be good enough to hold on.

Dynamic Punch is easily the most talented chaser in the event but he tends to make a lot of mistakes in his races. He is likely to bomb the start and settle back in the field but he does have a big finish and if the gaps open at the right time he will get his chance to feature. Zell Bale is much better than his recent form reads and if he happens to get away cleanly he can make an impact. He has broken the 30 second barrier here previously and if he can regain some confidence he won't be far away.

7ALLEN WAKE (NSW)[5]5415134.92(3)A Dailly (Anakie)
8TICK BALE (NSW)[5]41552NBTJ Hunt (Avalon)

Prior to her previous two runs, Cosmic Wise was absolutely airborne and now that she is back up to her favourite distance she should return to the winners list. Five starts ago she reeled off sizzling sectionals when scoring at Sandown in 34.17 and if she can reproduce that type of effort she will prove very hard to hold out. Obviously her chances hinge on her being able to lead but there isn't a lot of speed in this event and she should get every chance.

Tick Bale is a classy performer and he hasn't had a lot of luck in his previous efforts here, from the pink he should be able to get a clear run early and if he can balance up in the top four he will put the pressure on Cosmic Wise as they head for home. Ever Alert has loads of talent but he needs room in the early stages, if he can get away cleanly he should be thereabouts. Lady Toy will be well fancied but she is going to get a long way back early and she will be needing a lot of gaps to open, it may be worth anchoring her for third and fourth in exotic bets.

8BREAK O'DAY [4]5512442.91(1)M Wintle (Reservoir)

Tough race to kick start the quaddie and I think you will have to go wide. I've given the edge to Liara Allen and that is purely because she has the red draw. Last week she made her staying debut and after missing the kick she never really had a chance to show her best, from the red she should be able to punch through and lead and she will be much better for last week's effort.

Beks turned in a big performance at Ballarat two runs back when he reeled in Infinite Wish and he could be the value in this event. He is likely to go around at big odds but if he can settle mid pack and avoid trouble he should be in the mix when it counts. Break O'Day has his favourable pink draw and he should be a lot sharper tonight considering he has had 2 months off. He has a good record here and prior to his spell he had been racing in very strong company. Big Kat and Funky Chicken both need to be included in your quaddies, Funky Chicken is having his first crack at the trip and at 20/1 he could cause a boil over.

Top Four: 1 – 3 – 8 – 6

Suggested Bets:

Win bets on Liara Allen, Beks and Funky Chicken (very open race and all should be value and you should be able to double your money)

8ZIPPING RORY (NSW)[4]3113342.17(6)B Dapiran (Northwood)

She is aiming to become the number one prize money earner in history and she has everything going for her. Xylia Allen is one of the greatest chasers we have seen in recent times and from the red draw she should create history tonight. She will go around at $1.30 or shorter and it is best just to anchor her up front in your exotic and multiple bets. Her past two tries over the staying trip she has altered her racing pattern and after settling back in the field she has powered to the line, so with her ability to lead or come from off the speed, it really is impossible to see her being beaten.

Dyna Willow is a star in her own right and she returned to racing with a big effort when placed in her heat last week. She found a lot of trouble in the run and she should be much better for that effort, she is capable of settling much closer to the speed and it would turn into a wonderful if she and Xylia Allen landed in front. Zipping Rory has the good draw and he is a great chance to run a place, whilst Zipping Maggie appears to be a staying star of the future, she was smartly placed in her heat and she will continue to improve with every staying run.

8BUCKLE UP MASON (TAS)[1]8162129.74(3)J Hunt (Avalon)

Quality race and it's hard to look past track specialist Peloton Bale, he has won six of 13 over this journey and his latest victory here was last month when scoring in a smart 29.92. On that occasion he settled back in the field before powering to the line for a convincing win. The red box should allow him to settle much closer mid race and if he can gain some luck in running he should be there when it counts.

Buckle Up Mason is another who has a love affair with this track and if he can get away on terms from the pink he should have sufficient speed to get across, obviously if Peloton Bale is close in the run he will get run down but if the favourite finds trouble he may just get away with the prize. Tyronimo has been racing in solid fashion of late and he can atone for a luckless run here last week, whilst Gimme Fuel should round out the winning chances, he is a reliable beginner and he can run time on the bunny.

7HOOKSY [4]1613229.95(4)T Auld (Tatura)
8MEPUNGA HAYLEY [3]4241130.01(8)J Britton (Anakie)

Definitely not the strongest Group One Final and with that being said, if Hooksy wants to lay claim to being the best sprinter in the land he will need to win a race . His two heat efforts have been rather disappointing but he is in good hands and I'm sure would have him cherry ripe for tonight's final. It all comes down to what he does in the first 20 metres, if he gets away cleanly and is given some room he should drive to the lead and he will destroy his rivals, however if he misses the kick then he is going to need a huge amount of luck. I'm tipping that he will ping the lids tonight and at around the $2.80 mark he is big odds, it's worth noting that $1.80 is his biggest starting price at his past eight starts and they have all been in open class company.

Sisco Rage has the gun draw and although he was a tad disappointing last week I think the Mcdonald factor is the key. From the red he should be able to hold a forward spot early and prior to last week he had been turning in some enormous performances, if Hooksy finds trouble early, look for Sisco Rage to take advantage. Lamia Bale and Grand Legacy are the two smokey's in the event, both have enough speed to lead and they both appear to be getting stronger and stronger with every 500m run.

Crackerjack Dak is a super sprinter and he continues to impress, last week at Geelong he used his rails draw to perfection and scored a blistering 25.54 win. On that occasion he led from go to whoa and it appears that with a clean getaway tonight he should be able to lead throughout again.

Mepunga Fearon looks suitably drawn out wide and he should get a nice cart across from Crackerjack Dak in the early stages. I don't think he can beat the favourite but he looks a great prospect for the quinella. Allen Gizmo is suitably drawn in the red and he returned to form recently with a strong 25.61 Ballarat win, whilst Moot Point is a strong type and he can run home into a place.

Top Secret has been racing in much stronger company of late and he is armed with sizzling early speed. Two starts ago he posted a smart 5.08 section but unfortunately My Bro Fabio settled too close to him in the early stages and he was never a match for him. Tonight's race is fairly weak and if he can land on the bunny he will give them something to catch. The red is in form so we might be able to snag at least $3.50 or better with this one.

Silver Brodie regained some confidence with a slick 30.06 win here on Wednesday and he is drawn to be a major player again, I don't he can hold out Top Secret early but he should be able to settle very close to him and the run to the line should be very interesting. Victa Bale is much better than his recent form reads and he is returning to his favourite track, he has a wide runner drawn on his outside and that should allow him to get a clear run early.

8TRAIL BLAZING [5]1232330.41(8)T Womann (Lara)

Astronomic has been a little disappointing in her two Victorian runs but she is drawn to show loads of improvement. In WA she has scored some very slick wins and if she can reproduce some of that form she should be able to get around the 30 flat mark or just under and that would be enough to score here.

Wind Whistler has turned in two huge performances here in a heat and semi of the and if he gains an ounce of luck in running he will be there at the finish. He lack of early pace means that he will need a lot to go right to win but he is a powerful chaser and he seems to be getting better with every run. Trail Blazing will be well supported but I don't like his chances of crossing from the pink box. Roy Galo was very unlucky here last week and if he can begin like he did last start then he won't be far away.

Top Four: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4

Suggested Bets:

Win bets on Astronomic and Roy Galo

Race 12 – 525M Grade 5 Heat Five – 11:00PM

Quick Succession is absolutely flying at present in her last start Sandown Park win she recorded a ridiculous 4.98 to the first marker. The pink draw doesn't do her any favours but there isn't another runner in this event who is capable of matching motors with her in the first 50m. So provided she gets away on terms she should have enough natural speed to get across.

I'm a massive fan of Dyna Alchemist and I think he is going to go on to bigger and better things. My only concern with him tonight is the wide draw, he is keen for the fence and he can take a few strides to get going so he is going to need a lot of luck as they head for the first bend. What For is in career best form and he should be able to settle in the first two. His last 50m isn't great but he should have enough in the tank to hold on for the minor money.
