The Meadows Greyhounds Tips & Betting Preview March 29th 2014

Race 1 – 525M Maiden Final – 7:13PM

Little Turn finally gained some luck in running and that allowed the trained speedster to score a smart all the way heat win last week. If he can repeat his 5.11 sectional, he should have no trouble crossing early and getting the cash.

Footluce Diva was far from disgraced in her heat and from the good draw she should be pressuring the favourite throughout.

Estrela Escura and Dr. Rahoual are both improving types who look to be the likely hopes to fill the minors.

Top Four :    5 – 1 – 2 – 7

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 5/1,2,7/Field ($18 for $1)

Trifecta: 5/1/Field ($6 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,5/1,2,5,7/1,2,5,7 ($12 for $1)

Race 2 – 525M Grade 5 Heat – 7:35PM

Striking Blaze should continue the hot start to the night for Darren McDonald. Drawn in the prized red box, he should be burning to the early lead and from there on it should be a matter of times and margins.

Unix Bale has plenty of gears but her lack of early speed is always a concern. Obviously with luck early she will feature, however with her racing pattern she would be a solid anchor for second and third in your exotics.

Top Four :    1 – 4 – 6 – 8

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 1/4/2,3,6,7,8 ($5 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,4/1,4/2,3,6,7,8 ($10 for $1)

Trifecta: 1/4,6,8/2,3,4,6,7,8 ($15 for $1)

Race 3 – 525M Grade 5 Heat – 7:57PM

In a race where Cheap Currency is expected to start odds on, I think it is best to look for some value. I can't split Sky Fighter and Proven Looper. Sky Fighter is expected to ping and challenge for the lead whilst Proven Looper musters pace quickly and he should get a nice cart across early. Both should be at least $4.00 or better. So if you have something on both you should double your cash.

Cheap Currency has plenty on these when it comes to ability, however his box manners are terrible and I expect that he will be giving them a big head start.

Top Four :    7 – 8 – 3 – 4

Suggested Bet: Sky Fighter and Proven Looper both to win, take some exotics with Cheap Currency to run second or third also.

Race 4 – 525M Grade 5 Heat – 8:20PM

Dyna Orion has scored two brilliant wins here recently and he is expected to be odds on. Tonight I think he is the lay of the night. His first sectionals have been average to date and he is likely to get strung up in traffic early.

I am expecting Closing Time to pounce on the early lead and win comfortably. She has been placed in seven of her past eight starts and she is very consistent with her box manners.

Squall Bale could be the blowout chance, he is much better than his recent form suggests.

Top Four :    2 – 5 – 4 – 6

Suggested Bet: Closing Time and Squall Bale both for the win, have a little extra on Closing Time. Shop around the corporate bookmakers for the best value fixed odds.

Race 5 – 525M Grade 4 – 8:38PM

Probably the most open race of the night, has them all covered for ability but he is likely to be spotting them an enormous head start. Ollie Bale has experienced a limited amount of luck recently and with so much pace drawn underneath he should get a nice sit early and have his chance to return to the winners list.

Godric Grydindor scored a powerful 29.62 win last time and from the good draw he will be a major player again. Radinka Bale has a smart record here but she may struggle to cross from out in box six.

Top Four :    3 – 1 – 5 – 6

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 1,3/1,3,5,6/1,3,4,5,6,7,8 ($30 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,3,6/5/Field ($18 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,3,6/Field/5 ($18 for $1)

Race 6 – 525M Mixed 3/4 – 8:57PM

Fort Allen has sizzling early speed and he should lead clearly, however his last 50m is always suspect. With this being said, Tyronimo drawn in box two should be able to camp on the leader early and make a strong move off the back straight. He recently broke 27 seconds at and a repeat of that would see him proving too strong here.

The quinella spot should be filled by early leader Fort Allen, he has been in consistent form of late and he is likely to be fairly short.

Hawk Alone rarely runs a bad race and he just needs an ounce of luck early.

Top Four :    1 – 2 – 7 – 4

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 2/1/3,4,6,7,8 ($5 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,2/1,2/3,4,6,7,8 ($10 For $1)

Trifecta: 2/1,4,7/Field ($18 for $1)

Race 7 – 525M Mixed 4/5 – 9:20PM

Woodnear has the gun draw and he has won his past five starts in brilliant style. The brother of Ernie Bung Arrow is normally a very reliable beginner and if he can step on terms again, he should have no trouble holding the early lead and winning.

Bazza's Gift beat a top field at Sandown in early February and when given space in the early stages he can muster pace very quickly. With Woodnear leading he should get a nice sit early and he may give the leader a big fright.

Top Four :    1 – 2 – 4 – 3

Suggested Bet: Quinella 1,2

Trifecta: 1,2/1,2/Field ($12 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,2/1,2,3,4/Field ($36 for $1)

Race 8 – 525M Mixed 2/3 – 9:40PM

In a race with a number of chances, I think we can find some value. Yoda Bale is armed with early speed and if he can begin cleanly he has more than enough speed to cross. He should be around the $12 mark and is worth an each way bet.

Empire Allen should follow Yoda across early and although disappointing at Sandown last week, he can atone here as he loves this track.

Clone Your Own will bomb the start but he has great mid race pace, must for the exotics

Top Four :    7 – 8 – 6 – 1

Suggested Bet: Win bets on Yoda Bale and Empire Allen

Race 9 – 525M Grade 5 Final – 9:57PM

Lonesome Pirate is blessed with ridiculous talent but he doesn't always show it. Drawn in the red box, tonight he gets his chance to drive to the early lead and he should be running sub 30 on the .

Lou Todd got to the line strongly in his 30.23 heat win and with some luck early he should be a major player again.

Cosmic Rush must be respected at odds and do not leave out of your exotic bets.

Top Four :    1 – 3 – 7 – 8

Suggested Bet: Load up on Lonesome Pirate at sportingbet and have something small on Cosmic Rush at odds.

Race 10 – 600M Mixed 4/5 – 10:20PM

After an unsuccessful staying attempt, Allen Eryk drops back to his favourable 600m journey. With slow beginners drawn either side he should get all the breaks early and if remains untouched he should get the cash.

Knockabout Aussie is a frustrating chaser, he has lots of gears but has a tendency to find trouble in running. He is likely to get back early but look for him to be screaming home.

Jewel Bale makes her middle distance debut and she gives every indication that it will suit.

Top Four :    4 – 7 – 3 – 2

Suggested Bet: Allen Eryk to win with Sportsbet

Race 11 – 525M Grade 5 – 10:40PM

Lunar Tom is a brilliant beginner who has finally drawn his box. Drawn in eight, he should be given plenty of room to muster to the early lead and in a mediocre affair he should prove far too strong. If you can get $3.50 or better, load up as he is the best of the night.

Wise chief led for a long way in his top Horsham placing recently and if he can settle near the speed again he should be a major player.

Top Four :    8 – 2 – 3 – 4

Suggested Bet: Win bet on Lunar Tom

Race 12 – 525M Grade 5 – 10:57PM

To finish the card we have the toughest race of the night. I think this is a race where you can have something on a few runners at value. I am expecting Pepper Fozz to lead and she was far from disgraced when placed here last week. She will be double figures and worth an each way ticket.

Why Not Wayne is the most talented in the race but he will be relying on luck early. He will also be double figures. Fearsome Mint is the likely favourite and I think he might struggle in his first look at the track.

Top Four :    3 – 7 – 5 – 4

Suggested Bet: Win bets on Pepper Fozz, Why Not Wayne and Firecette.  All will be double figures.

Quaddies:

1,3,5,6/1,2/1,2/1,3,6,7,8 ($80 for $1)

1,3/1,2,4,7/1,2/1,3,6,7,8 ($80 for $1)

Big finish and the heater continues..I didn’t get to have much of a go but I did manage to get a quaddie on which paid okay. How do you do your form Brad? Is it a matter or working out where dogs should be at the first turn and then assessing value from there?
