Comment :
Stunning heat winner from box 6 who showed the benefit of a prior run on the track when pinging the lids for an all the way 29.79. Has previously made the Group 2Queensland Derbyfinal and was selected for the Group 1 Topgun after finishing second toCindeen Shelbyin thePaws Of Thunder Only interstate greyhound in the field and is a legitimate group class greyhound who has drawn well down in box 1. Can be hit and miss at box rise but if he comes out running he will go very close.

Comment :
Something of a track specialist having won 6 of his 11 wins here on the track. Created a big impression early in his career winning all 4 of his first 4 starts, including 3 in a row here running 29.85 on debut. This is his first group final after trying unsuccessfully to qualify for finals of The Maturity,Wangaratta CupVictorian National Sprint Championship Paws Of Thunder and Geelong Cup. Just seems to be one rung below the class needed to win group finals, but did run the fastest first sectional split last week and box is an advantage.

Comment :
Was the fastest heat winner last week but was always going to be at the lead comfortably from a very favourable draw with slow beginners drawn inside and out. Does not get that luxury again here this week and must lead to win. Can’t see that happening with Prankster andTake The Kittyinside him and very speedy Remo Rubik to his immediate outside.

Remo Rubik

  • Breeding :Solve The Puzzle~ Remo Agogo
  • Whelped : December 2006
  • Sex : Dog
  • Colour : Black
  • Owner/s : Kerrigan syndicate

  • Best Time : 29.72
  • Last Time : 29.72
  • Best First Sectional Time : 5.13
  • Last First Sectional Time : 5.19
  • Box 4 Record : 6 Starts – 2 wins – 1 seconds – 0 thirds
  • Sportsbet Market : $15 >> $6

Comment :
Genuine group performer who under Geoff Mitchell’s training has won the Wangaratta and Traralgon Cups and made the Shepparton andWarrnambool Cupfinals. Would have been better placed drawing closer to the rail and doesn’t look capable of leading outright without interference to those drawn inside. A win would not surprise but the draw weighs heavily against him in this group 1 final. Probably needs to lead to have any chance.

Turanza Bale

  • Breeding : Primo Uno ~ Daishi Bale
  • Whelped : July 2006
  • Sex : Dog
  • Colour : Black

  • Last First Sectional Time : 5.30
  • Box 5 Record : 13 Starts – 5 wins – 4 seconds – 2 thirds
  • Sportsbet Market : $8 >> $5.50

Comment :
Broke The Meadows track record just 3 starts ago taking out the Group 3Silver Bulletfrom box 3, then ran a very good second to Velocette in theSandown Shootoutbefore last weeks 29.78 heat win. Struggles to win the big races due to his lack of true box speed and has developed a bad habit of running out while accelerating early in his races but has made finals of the VictorianNational Sprint Championshiptwice, SA Derby, Ballarat Cup,Hobart Thousand Silver Chief,Cranbourne CupGold Coast CupWinter Carnival CupTraralgon Cupand the Geelong Cup. Very consistent group performer but will struggle to win this from the draw and is running for luck.

Dyna Lachlan

  • Last First Sectional Time : 5.24
  • Box 6 Record : 2 Starts – 0 wins – 0 seconds – 1 thirds
  • Sportsbet Market : $6 >> $4.50

Comment :
Another Wheeler greyhound who has been very consistent in top grades but can’t find the post first in the big ones. Has so far made 5 group finals never finishing further back than 4th with best finishes coming in the Group 1 Topgun (3rd) and the Group 1 National Sprint Championship when run down byDashing Corsairin the shadows of the post. Will almost certainly be there abouts at the finish but has to overcome Turanza Bale stepping outward early and pace from Lord Ducal and possibly Octare from his outside. Another who will most likely be running for luck to the first corner.

Lord Ducal

  • Breeding : Bombastic Shiraz ~ Ducal Princess
  • Whelped : April 2007
  • Sex : Dog
  • Colour : Black
  • Owner/s : Jenny Roberts
  • Trainer : Jon Roberts
  • Race Record : 25 Starts – 8 wins – 7 seconds – 2 thirds
  • Prizemoney : $42,715
  • Sandown Park 515m Record : 16 Starts – 5 wins – 5 seconds – 0 thirds
  • Best Time : 29.56
  • Last Time : 29.92
  • Best First Sectional Time : 5.18
  • Last First Sectional Time : 5.27
  • Box 7 Record : 2 Starts – 0 wins – 1 seconds – 0 thirds
  • Sportsbet Market : $51 >> $15

Comment :
Most inexperienced greyhound in the field, but did get a taste of group racing when added to the Group 3 Silver Bullet field finishing 5th behind Turanza Bale. Could win this race if able to find the lead, but on exposed form cannot possibly cross the field without the four inside runners causing each other trouble. Has the ability to finish on hard and could be the one to watch for late if Take The Kitty gets taken out of play.

Octare

  • Breeding : Pure Octane ~ Julka Princess
  • Whelped : June 2006
  • Sex : Bitch
  • Colour : Black & White
  • Owner/s : Stavros Kipirtidis

  • Race Record : 61 Starts – 12 wins – 16 seconds – 11 thirds
  • Prizemoney : $47,255
  • Sandown Park 515m Record : 11 Starts – 1 wins – 4 seconds – 1 thirds
  • Best Time : 29.66
  • Last Time : 29.66
  • Best First Sectional Time : 5.13
  • Last First Sectional Time : 5.26
  • Box 8 Record : 5 Starts – 1 wins – 0 seconds – 1 thirds
  • Sportsbet Market : $251 >> $26

Comment :
The only bitch in the field who has won 8 of 20 starts since transferring to the Lara kennels of Jamie Ennis. Caused a sensation last week beating both Gripen Bale and Cindeen Shelby on merit and leading all the way in 29.66 at the huge odds of $33. Has been racing exceptionally well and did make the Group 1 Crown Classic final here just 3 starts back. Prior to that had won impressively at The Meadows running 29.92 winning a 5th grade heat and final. Is the best placed runner to take advantage of what may be a lot of interference inside her and if she can replicate a career best 5.13 first sectional, could well be heading to the back straight a few lengths clear. Not the worst and over the odds.
