Amity Bale Is November’s Greyhound Of The Month

AGRA’s Greyhound of the Month for November 2009 is New South Wales owned and Victorian trained stayer Amity Bale. The outstanding Graeme Bate trained black bitch has had a sensational five months of racing and capped it off by winning two Group 2 finals and finishing third in another in the month of November.
November started with a super win in the final of the Group 2 Hume Cup not only did she win the final effortlessly by broke the Meadows track record in the process. Next it was back to Wentworth Park for the heats of the Summer Cup she had no trouble making yet another final winning in the fastest time of the night 42.14.
In the final a week later she had to work hard but once in the lead she raced away to win her sixth Group race in a row holding off the fast finishing Forty Twenty.
The win was also her nine straight victory. Back in Melbourne Amity Bale contested the Bold Trease Carnival Cup, this year the race had to be made a final only after a lack of nominations prevented the Sandown club staging heats and the final on Melbourne Cup night. Starting a $1.70 favourite she final tasted defeat for the first time since early September. Having no much luck in running she finished third behind Drill ‘em in a fast 42.08.
Raced by Paul Wheeler, Amity Bale is a Black Bitch whelped September 2006 by Sonic Flight from Evonne Bale (Light Of Fire x Frosty Bale) she has raced 72 times for 31 wins and 25 placings and her overall stake earnings stand at $275,095.
This week Amity Bale heads to the Gardens to contest the Group 3 Newcastle Cup on Wednesday the 2nd of December
November was packed with a number of group races and it was a very competitive month, however after an almost unbeaten record in distance group races since mid year Amity Bale was rewarded as this month’s Greyhound of the Month. She beat other Group 1 & 2 winners Lord Ducal, Cindeen Shelby, Jedd Lion, Sheoak Ian, Drill ’Em, and Robo Raptor.
AGRA congratulates Paul Wheeler, Graeme Bate & Amity Bale on being awarded the AGRA Greyhound of the Month for November. She joins Cindeen Shelby, Dyna Lachlan, Red Shilling, Trew Millions, High Earner, Mantra Lad, Dana Beatrice, Miss Slick, Gunnadoo Magic and Velocette as the AGRA Greyhound of the Month winners in 2009.
