Barcia Bale Named Australia’s Best Greyhound In July 2012

’s for July 2012 is brilliant young New South Wales owned and Victorian trained sprinter . Raced and bred by Australia’s most prolific owner-breeder and trained by Victorian legend has raced 10 times for as many wins and was awesome throughout the Group 1 Maturity series. His efforts in July earned him the AGRA Greyhound of the Month award.

Barcia Bale has emerged as Australia’s newest sprinting sensation after his brilliant win in the Group 1 Hudson Pacific at The Meadows, starting a $2.00 favourite for the event he handing in a tradesman like performance to defeat his hard chasing litter sister Desalle Bale.

In the month of July Barcia Bale raced five times for as many wins four in the best of the night he starting at Horsham on July 3rd with an easy win in 26.99. Then it was onto the Meadows where he won first up in 29.86 on the 7th then he made a clean sweep of the Maturity series where he won his heat in 29.86 on the 14th, his semi-final on the 21st in 29.90 and then the final on the 28th in 30.03.

Trainer Graeme Bate was full of praise for his new champion.

“I don’t think it is out of place to compare this dog with Brett Lee, or El Grand Senor,” said Bate, who has now trained Barcia Bale in seven of his 10 wins after starting his career in New South Wales.

The unbeaten star will now head back to his home state to compete in the State Sprint series at Bulli.

Barcia Bale is a Black dog whelped March 2010 by from (Hallucinate x Gold Rush Bale). He is raced by Paul Wheeler and trained at Lara by Graeme Bate. He made it 10 from 10 in the Maturity final a very imposing record for such a young dog. His overall prizemoney stands at $127,225.

The month of July saw only four group races decided. Barcia Bale beat Group 1 winner and Group 2 winners Bye Bye Bucks, Blackalls Boss and for the monthly award.

AGRA congratulates owner Paul Wheeler, trainer Graeme Bate plus Barcia Bale on being awarded the AGRA Greyhound of the Month for July 2012. He joins January Greyhound of the Month Oaks Road, February winner Miata, March winner Katie Merry, April winner Don’t Knocka Him, May winner Irma Bale and June winner He Knows Uno.
