Queen Lauryn Shock Scratching From McKenna Memorial

In a blow to connections and both the Sandown and Albion Park Greyhound Racing Clubs, the first lady of Australian Greyhound Racing, Queen Lauryn has been scratched from this Thursday night’s Group 2 McKenna Memorial heats and will also miss the upcoming Superstayers Challenge at Albion Park.
Owner Steve Hawkins has reported this morning that trainer Tony Brett has been forced to scratch his former star sprinter and now confirmed staying superpower, after she came on season, yet again.
Queen Lauryn was to have lined up in box seven at Sandown this Thursday night in the Group 2 McKenna Memorial against Chinatown Lad, Amity Bale and Octane Al; after her last start demolition job of the Albion Park Group 1 Gold Cup against super field.
The run was also to coincide with her owners sposnorship of the Group 1 Hawkins Media Laurels Semi Finals and Final.
“The Queen’s” battles with hormonal issues have been well documented, and after sprinting very successfully in the early part of her career, she successfully made the transition to staying, netting several middledistance records on the way; but had all preparations seriously affected by firstly withdrawal from Anabolic Steroids, then having adverse reactions to Ethyleostrenol and now suffering her third seasonal condition.
Lets hope for all concerned that with maturity, Queen Lauryn can bounced back more quickly from this setback than she has done in the past.
In other major news in group Greyhound Racing, connections of Queensland Derby finalist Setanta have been forced to scratch from this Thursday night’s final and the scratching makes way for Group 1 Maturity winner Fedex to start from box five.
