Race For Rapidvite Nationals Begins Thursday

The Rapidvite National Series kicks off this Thursday night with state heats at , and . Whilst the Sunshine State has had to endure trying times off the track over the past twelve months, there can be no denying that they are the bench mark on the track.

Despite only having 20 final acceptors for the sprint series, they are all class and should provide some tremendous clashes.

In heat one, boom chaser Queen Lauryn (box two) goes up against the group one Perth Cup winner (box five). Although being beaten out of a place last Thursday night at Albion Park, the small six dog field should suit Tony Brett's Queen Lauryn.

Size Can Matter is trained by , who has entered his entire race kennel in the Rapidvite National series and looks the dominant force in the remaining two heats.

In Heat two, National Futurity winner Elite Oriental (box one) will take on kennel mate and recent group one victor, who also holds the Albion Park 520 metre track record.

In the final qualifier, Knocka Norris (box six) looks the greyhound to beat, with a vacant box on his inside. After finding trouble in the Cup over the 457 metres, his trainer Reg Kay says the 520 metres on Thursday night is more suitable.

“He's definitely looking for more ground. His strongest part of his race is the last half,” he said.

Sandown will conduct four very even heats of the Victorian Sprint Championship and Angle Park will play host to three sprint and two distance qualifiers in the South Australian series.

The retirement of the winner, Shanlyn Prince has made Trew Millions for Tina Womann the nominal favourite for the Victorian series. The son of Brett Lee and Chloe Jones has been the state's most consistent big race performer, making five group finals this year, including a last start 2nd in the group one Winter Cup a fortnight ago.

An injury enforced layoff for South Australia's favourite chaser, Scull Murphy, has opened up the Angle Park heats.

A representative from every state of Australia will qualify for the $50,000 to the winner Grand Finals of the Rapidvite National Sprint and Distance Championships at Sydney's famous circuit on Saturday, August 30, hosted by the NSW GBOTA.
