Cashen Mafuma Claims 2012 Irish St. Leger

Spectators at Greyhound Stadium witnessed an exciting finish to the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St. Leger on Saturday night last.

Following a photo-finish, Cashen Mafuma claimed the title in 29.57.

With a final burst to the finish line, Cashen Mafuma managed to cross the finish line just a short-head in front of Priceless Sky, with Derby winner Skywalker Puma a further 2 lengths behind.

Owned by Chris Houlihan and Padraig Rowen, and trained by Chris in neighbouring Co. Kerry, Cashen Mafuma was a popular local winner.

The 550yds Classic is the biggest event in the Limerick Racing Calendar and carried a prize fund of €63,000. Saturday night's win garnered a first prize of €25,000 for Cashen Mafuma.
