Jeanette Cauchi Fined $2000 After Meloxicam Positive

Racing Queensland (RQ) Stewards today conducted an Inquiry into the analyst's findings in respect of a urine sample taken from the registered greyhound CLASSIC TYCOON which competed at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club on 5 September, 2014 in race 1.
After taking evidence from Ms Jeanette Cauchi the trainer of CLASSIC TYCOON, and assisting the inquiry Mr Paul Cauchi, Stewards issued a charge against Ms Cauchi pursuant to Greyhounds Australasia Rule 83(2)(a).
The specifics of the charge were that on 5 September 2014, Jeanette Cauchi, as the licensed trainer of the greyhound CLASSIC TYCOON, did present that greyhound to compete in race 1 at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club, when a urine sample taken from the greyhound after competing in that race was found, upon analysis, to contain the prohibited substance Meloxicam.
Ms Cauchi pleaded guilty to the charge.
When assessing an appropriate penalty, Stewards took into account the personal circumstances of Ms Cauchi, the honest and forthright evidence she provided and her involvement in the industry over a long period. Stewards also had to consider that breaches of this nature have the capacity to impact the good image of the sport of greyhound racing.
Subsequently, Ms Cauchi was fined $2,000.
Under the provisions of Greyhounds Australasia Rule 83(4) CLASSIC TYCOON was disqualified from its 1st placing in race 1 at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club on 5th September 2014.
The placings of the 431m Maiden Grade held on 5 September 2014 were amended as follows:

2nd NOOREE DESSA
3rd LITTLE BIT NIPPY
4th JOHN SNOW
5TH AUSCZECH DIVA
Ms Cauchi was directed to return all prize money received from the aforementioned event to Racing Queensland.
Ms Cauchi was advised of her appeal rights.
