Casino Track Specialist Hayden’s Run Tops $10,000 & 50% Strikerate

Reliable beginner and fastest qualifier, Hayden's Run gave local trainer Brad Northfield one of his three winners when he led all of the way to win the Blue Paws Final last . Sweeping to the front, he gave nothing a else a chance as he carved out a fast 27.17 to win by 3 1/2 lengths. All of his career runs have been at where he has now built up the impressive record of seven wins from only fourteen starts. Brad trains this son of Brumby Lad for Mavis and Barry Wilkinson and his prize money has now topped the $10,000 mark.

It didn't stop there for Brad as earlier was successful in the Casino RSM Club Free For All. Unlike Hayden's Run, he is a slow starter, but when the favourite Kooringa Squirt ran a little wide going through the pen, Shorty darted through along the fence to take up the running. He was too strong from that point and won by 2 1/4 lengths in a handy 23.14. Later, Bralyn Sal was never headed as she coasted to a 2 1/4 length win in the Richmond Valley Pet supplies distance stake. She ran 35.83.

There was plenty of cheering when Maxie's Chariot railed through to grab the lead in the Rapidvite appreciation stake. The owners were in full voice as Maxie darted clear before holding off to win by a half length in a personal best time of 23.08. He has only had one start back from a spell where he finished a good third to speedster Pitch Blue Chief, and back in a 5th grade, he looked the “goods,” and duly saluted.

It was a welcome return to the winners circle to Jim Saunders when Lilly Elite took out the Mc Donald's Pharmacy maiden. After a string of minor placings, Jim stepped her up to the 484 metres, and after jumping second, she railed through to lead at the first bend. Jim, a long time trainer in Casino, trains her for friend Garth Lewis, and she ran 27.95 in winning by 2 1/2 lengths. There may be more wins in store over this longer journey.

Jolly Jonna ran the best time of the day when she recorded 22.98 in the Shane Newstead Automotive stake. It was a “two dog war” from the boxes with It's My Life and Jolly Jonna matching motors for the entire trip. On the wire the trained sprinter got the better of her rival and saluted by a half length.

Miss Jodito, a daughter of the inaugural GRNSW Country Challenge winner, , had her initial success in the opening event for Toni Northfield and the girls. She railed under the leaders in the back and scooted away to win by 9 3/4 lengths in 23.17. She looked very strong, and she is another who will probably take a step up in distance.

Jan Finneran's seems to reserve his best for Casino, and he won his fourth race here when he equalled his beat time of 27.76, and Federer's Boy served up his best for trainer when he raced around the field to race away and win by 5 1/4 lengths. He ran 27.62.

In the other races Chainsaw Tommy railed well to win the other distance race in 35.82 for ; Ebony Revenge came again along the paint to run 23.30 for Jim Madigan, and Thourton Addis tracked wide throughout, but was too powerful clocking 23.14.

The club would like to thank Peter Bryce form Rapidvite for being on track to give the trainers some tips on his company's products, and also race caller Rod Fuller who filled in for Bob Lane over that last two weeks.
