Cracker Of A Charcoal Inn Casino Cup Coming Up

A classy field will face the starter in this 's Group Three Charcoal Inn Casino Cup, after the heats were run last week.

Azure Allegro goes into the final as an unbeaten commodity over the 484 metres here, a similar record to the well performed Bralyn Maisie who won the cup a couple of years back.

ran the next best time of 27.29. She shares the current track record over the 411 metres, and she showed that early pace to a winning break down the back. Holding on well she beat the fast finishing Kamikaze Magpie by 2 3/4 lengths. Her early speed will be a vital factor in the final.

, also a fast beginner, did all of her work at the start, and had the race won a long way from home. Des Gilroy trains her, and she scored by 4 1/4 lengths clocking 27.39.

Reg Hazelgrove's Whirly Storm was the next to reach the final when she got the better of Kidatee Alf down the side before winning in 27.41, whilst Big Cool Ronny made it two on the trot in winning heat five in 27.48. He came home strongly along the rails to win by 3 1/2 lengths.

Between them, the eight finalists have won over 120 races, and a cool $15,000 awaits the winner.

returned to the winners list at Queen Elizabeth Park with a “bang,” landing a three winners. The first of these was who won the Casino RSM Club stake. He railed through at the home turn and won by 1 1/2 lengths in 23.19. Next up was Miss Sterling who led from start to finish in the Relay For Life stake. She ran 27.35 in a 4 1/2 length romp. To top off the day, Within Radar showed great pace to circumnavigate the field at the first turn before hanging on valiantly to win by a head in 23.01.

Owner had two winners on the day when Yorklea Beauty won her maiden by 4 3/4 lengths in 23.22, and Yorklea Sunrise ran 23.06 in a three length victory. They both led all of the way, and are trained for Tony by Roy O' Malley and Gary Peel respectively.

Hasty Flight ran 23.04 for when he rattled home to win the Westlawn Finance stake by 3 1/4 lengths, and Marvellous made it two in a row when she won the distance stake in 35.85 for John Corrigan.

This week sees a swap between and Casino in time slots, with the Casino Cup meeting moving to the Twilight Zone.
