Hallinan Zips Ahead In 2014 Sportingbet Bathurst Gold Cup Final

Clergate trainer Martin Hallinan has put the polish on the two top placed runners in the 2014 Sportingbet final on Monday afternoon. Zipping Tess (4) and Zipping Gilbert (1) finished first and second respectively.

The win would have been a nice moment for the Hallinan family as they sadly lost champion brood-bitch earlier in the week and Zipping Tess is one of her daughters.

Zipping Gilbert (1), a son of -Natalie Rass, went to the boxes as favourite. Clair Vision (3) was expected to lead the race but missed the kick and her chances were laid to rest after that. Zipping Tess (4) was the best away from the awkward draw and led all the way to record a 29.86 victory. Zipping Gilbert tried his very best but could not grab his kennel-mate on the line, losing any kennel bragging rights by just a head. Smart youngster King Cobber (6) was posted wide the whole race and covered a lot of ground, but still managed to finish very strongly for third. He is definitely one to keep a close eye on.

The win was Zipping Tess' 13th career victory from 44 career starts and her prize-money earnings have now increased to $37,000.
