Like A Tiger’s Upset Orange Cup Win

A horror draw for speedsters Dana Beatrice, Rockstar Image and conspired to give Rod McDonald an overdue feature race win at in the $5,000-to-the-winner final of the Cup at Kennerson Park on Saturday night.

The fancied trio held most of the punters' investments, but it was the McDonald-trained which held on to win the latest leg of the Greyhound Country Challenge.

Controversy struck Dana Tiger's full sister Dana Beatrice and her nearest rivals Rockstar Image and Beverage when they tangled on the first turn.

The scrimmage left pre-race favourite Rockstar Image sprawled on the track while Dana Beatrice and Beverage were severely enough checked to be knocked out of contention.

While the trouble was ensuing at the back of the field, Dana Tiger, the son of , led a one-two for home with the -trained Janderra's Mate in pursuit.

provided a surge close to home, but was still half-a-length adrift when Dana Tiger handed McDonald a much-deserved win.

Janderra's Mate was just a head away in third.

McDonald had come close to winning the prized Soldier's Saddle with Dana Beatrice late last year after she almost produced an all-the-way performance.

The -trained Elite Flash now leads the Country Challenge pointscore after picking up seven points for second.
