Locals Hold Their Own At Taree Greyhounds

Early rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of patrons at Taree greyhounds with a good crowd on hand to experience some excellent racing last Saturday.

Local trainers experienced tough competition from visitors with four recording wins from the 11 event program at the Kanangra Drive track.

Barry Austin ( Bohnock) won the heat one with Perfect Drink, Vince Cassar (Cundletown) won heat three with Diesel Chance and (Mount George) won the Taree Upholstery Stakes with .

The other Blue Paws heat winner was (Mark Roberts, Kurri Kurri).

Roberts had a good day with Prince Eragon winning the Taree City Cars Challenge heat two and Big Sky Ruler winning the Local Bookmaker Stakes. The other heat winners in the Challenge were (, Wyoming) and Calico Chick (, Nabiac).

David Howarth from Tamworth made the trip worthwhile with his Ride the Line winning the feature race, the Christmas Cup Prelude, from (, Elrington) and Faberge Belle (, Melinga).

This Saturday's 12 event program will be a big day for greyhound racing at Taree featuring three finals, the Blue Paws over 392 metres, the Taree City Cars Challenge over the same distance and the Midcoast Eggs Christmas Cup over 537 metres.
