Miagi, Hendrix, Snozz Headline NSW Nat Champs Heats

Championships NSW State Heats Saturday August 16 at Wentworth Park sees the continuation of the State run offs for the Rapidvite National Sprint and Distance Championships Grand Finals which the GBOTA is hosting at Wentworth Park on Saturday August 30.

The August 16 meeting at the Glebe headquarters includes seven NSW State heats of this series with three heats of the Distance Championships over the 720m metres and four heats of the Sprint Championships. Nominations closed nationally for this series on July 31 and despite there being a number of withdrawals from the NSW entries since, there’s quality in the fields, offering great racing and excellent betting opportunities.

The State’s favourite stayer Miagi heads the list of acceptors in the distance category. Trainer Warren Harper has worked hard on his champion after a serious setback and this great people’s favourite will carry enormous support as the sentimental favourite to go through to represent NSW in the Grand Final. However there are 23 others vying for the chance to represent NSW on August 30 over the testing 720 metres and we wish them all good luck in their quest.

The sprint category, with four heats over the 520 includes Hendrix for Richie Dean up against Jason Mackay’s Snozz in heat 1 and Mountain of Love winner of the recent GRNSW Country Challenge Showdown final at headquarters, in a very strong heat which includes Earl Anderson’s Merleen, Sid Swain’s Cool Flight and Paul Galea’s Ashes Platinum.

Richie Dean is again represented in heat 3 by first grader Repeated, opposed by the talented Cindeen Shelby for Dean Parkinson, Doreen Drynan’s Time Keeper and Christine Oldfield’s Spring Smile, to name a few.

Richie Dean’s there again, with his very smart first grader Thai Alert contesting the final sprint heat, with Borat (John Carruthers) and another first grader Eluthra (Doreen Drynan) promising a keen contest. Great racing offers and good luck to all.
