After Miss Elly Mint equalled the record of 15 consecutive wins set by Kate’s A Scandal and Tasmanian True Vintage, the -trained three-year-old took just 29.96 seconds to cover the 520 metres and run into history.

Starting from box 2 in the Free For All Stake, it looked like a draw with speedy drawn her outside and several other noted “crashers” drawn outside her. The win took her impressive racing record to 38 wins from 58 starts, and it was the blue-and-white brindle bitch’s 12th victory at Sydney’s Greyhound Racing headquarters.

“It was a really good win because she had to beat the other dogs on their terms,” said Smith, who trains the dog at his Cooranbong property, Peppercorn Farm.

“She had three weeks off and in that time the other dogs were winning races and posting quick times, so she met them at their best and she won pretty well.

“She just jumped in front and led them all the way again.”

The win lifted her career prizemoney to $147,090. Smith said she will race at Wentworth Park again on Saturday night in an attempt to extend her winning streak to 17.

Miss Elly Mint bypassed an invitation to the Group 1 at The Meadows next Saturday night and will now be set for the Group 1 Golden .
