NSW GRNSW Primed For GHRRA Takeover
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) is making solid progress towards the merging of the greyhound division of the Greyhound and Harness Racing Regulatory Authority (GHRRA) and GRNSW.
The NSW Government introduced the merger Bill into the NSW Parliament last week and that will pave the way for the bringing together of duties and responsibilities over coming months.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of GRNSW, its Chairman Professor Percy Allan AM said the merger process is a large task but something that is progressing well.
“The planning that has been done so far is intended to provide for a smooth transition of the two businesses into one organisation so there is little or no disruption or inconvenience to members of the sport,” Professor Allan said.
Professor Allan said that the Board has appointed current GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan as the Chief Executive of the merged organisation for a three year period.
“We have strong confidence that Brent and his management team will make a success of the new organisation.
“As with any merger process there are a number of items that need to be worked through and many different stakeholders that need to be involved. We would very much like to discuss future roles at GRNSW with the present GHRRA staff but these desires have been frustrated to date by industrial action taken by the Public Service and Professional Officers Association in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission.
“Hopefully over the next couple of weeks this and other outstanding issues will be satisfactorily resolved after which the Board will provide a full update on the progress and impacts of the merger in a detailed statement.
“The Board is committed to a transparent merger process,” Professor Allan stated.
GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan said he was grateful to the Board for the opportunity to lead the new organisation which will build on the strengths of both the GHRRA and GRNSW teams.
“We believe the merger is going to provide us with significant opportunities to strengthen both our service offering and the delivery of that to the members of our sport and the community as a whole.
“The merger will also provide us with a very professional and dynamic environment for the new organisation to flourish.”
