Rue De Kahn Flying Under The Radar Ahead Of Gosford Gold Cup

One winner Rue De Kahn is flying under the this week, as she prepares to step out in her fifth group race final in the past twelve months.

Her Vineyard trainer was elated with her run last week in a heat of the Group Two Gosford , finishing second behind fastest qualifier Are Jip in 29.36. Swain is confident of an improved performance in this night's $40,000 final, after coming up with a favourable box two.

“I knew Are Jip was the one to beat in her heat last week and he was just too strong for her at the finish. The pair had a great battle during the race.”

“I told my son Jesse to pick box two, because I thought it would be the best box for her and I was so happy when he did.”

“I'm really happy that she's in the second line of dogs that will go into the boxes, because she does play up if she goes in early.”

After beginning well from box two last Friday evening, the daughter of Where's Pedro and Shelbourne Dawn challenged 's talented chaser Are Jip until the home turn, beaten by three and a half lengths at the finish, however she still clocked a sizzling time of 29.58.

“She really needed the run last week and will definitely be going into this final a lot fitter.”

“I trialled her on Monday at morning and she went really well.”

“She's well and truly seasoned at Gosford, she had a lot of work at the track earlier in her career, so I'm hoping that helps her too.”

“Obviously Zipping Willow is the one to beat after drawing the inside, but I'm just hoping my bitch can begin well and put herself in the race.”

Swain is no stranger to having runners engaged in a Gosford Cup final, with Friday's race being his fourth attempt at winning the coveted Group Two title.

“This is my fourth Gosford Cup final and every time I've had a runner they've all finished fourth, so I'd be happy just to run a place this year and break my streak.”

Rue De Kahn will head back to after this final and compete in the Group One series, which kicks off early next month.

“I've targeted all the group races with her and we will roll onto the Paws of Thunder after this final. The scheduling works out well because she will be nice and fit ready for that series.”

“I'm just happy to make these finals and hopefully she has a bit of luck in the race and gets a chance to show what she can do.”

Rue De Kahn, who doesn't turn three until February, has twelve career wins from forty-one starts, with an exceptional prizemoney total of $136,810.
