Supercell Triumphs in Silver Collar
Written By Clarinda Campbell Friday 20th December 2013
Supercell (6) triumphed in the Greyhound Recorder Dapto Silver Collar on Thursday night. Ken Wright had indicated in an interview earlier in the week that if Supercell behaved in the boxes and beat Gaudi (7) out and was up near the leaders at the first turn, he would be fast enough to win the race. Supercell must have heard Ken’s script and he played it out to perfection.
When the lids opened Pantone Green (2) demonstrated his early speed and led as expected. Supercell was also away nicely and had an interference free run into the turn and fastest qualifier Gaudi (7) bombed the start and couldn’t make up the ground to run a place. Fancy Rhythm (8) also had a clear run into the turn but couldn’t cross the field, but did pop into second place coming out of the first turn into the back straight. Supercell was too close though and quickly accounted for Fancy Rhythm and went after Pantone Green, who had two lengths on the field. Turning for home, Supercell shifted wide, straightened and went past Pantone Green to win by half a length. Pantone Green and Fancy Rhythm filled the minors.
The Mary Wright trained chaser by Lochinvar Marlow-Super Celelstrial, brought up his twelfth career win and added another $5,000 to his prizemoney total.
