Tricky Jade Wins Rocky Ridge Dubbo Gold Cup And Breaks Track Record
Tricky Jade set the Dubbo 516 metre track alight with blinding speed to take out the 2014 Rocky Ridge Dubbo Gold Cup and register record a new track record in the process for Clergate trainer Martin Hallinan.
The zippy daughter of Bit Chili and Navigator Miss (Whiskey Assassin – Al Fresco) pinged the lids and found the fence by the post the first time and was always going to take a power of beating from that point.
Drama struck at the first turn when there was a mix-up of gargantuan proportions that not only ended the chances of more than half of the runners, but also saw Kulu Special (8) heading the wrong way back towards the field before she was expertly collared by a track attendant.
Meanwhile, Tricky Jade was carving out time in front with the imposing white figure of Manyana Groper (1) in pursuit, albeit in vain.
The further they went, the further Tricky Jade got away, eventually scoring by 4 3/4 lengths in a blistering 29.59 lowering old track-record of 29.63 set by Long Range a fortnight ago.
Manyana Groper finished a gallant second while Freddy's Smile finished third.
The win was Tricky Jade's tenth from 23 career starts and takes her career earning past $45,000.
