“Rose Hi” Double For Thompson At Casino Greyhounds

There is hardly a meeting goes by on the Northern Rivers without 's greyhounds featuring. Most of these dogs are named with a “Rose Hi” moniker and Trevor was at it again on Friday with a winning double at .

It was that opened proceedings for Trev, when he swept around a jamming field at the first turn to race away with the Westlawn Finance stake. He ran 23.52 in winning by 5 1/4 lengths.

Ted Rose Hi, a half brother to Socks, railed through at the top turn to take out a heat of the Ab Casey Memorial in 28 seconds even. He overcame box five, and the time can be ignored when assessing form as it was the final heat, and the track was a little soggy after rain during the day.

Actually Trev was one of four trainers who had success in two races. Glenda Dart will have a good hand in this week's final when she took out two heats with Proper Lucy and Gotta Feeling. Proper Lucy ran the fastest time of 27.50 when she bolted in by nine lengths, while Gotta Feeling took over going through the pen, before scoring by 1 1/2 lengths in 27.62.

Beryl and continued on their winning way at Queen Elizabeth Park when old timer won her heat in 27.82. Well over four years of age, she showed great zest to race away and win by 6 1/2 lengths in 27.82. Later, converted the double when she won her fourth race in a row . She was too strong over the final stages of the Casino RSM Club FFA saluting by 2 3/4 lengths in 23.33.

Veteran Queensland conditioner Ray Gatti was also in the winners circle twice, with Nungi taking out the opening maiden by 6 1/2 lengths in 23.90, and Be My Baby scoring in the distance race. She won by 1 1/2 lengths in 35.91. Ray has been a regular visitor to Casino over the years, and his dogs are always hard to beat.

Second String gave a welcome change of luck when he won the Casino Rural Traders stake clocking 23.28, whilst Silver Goblet got to the front at the top turn before going on to run 23.31 for .

's Pink Ladette has been knocking on the door and finally won her maiden in 27.86 in all of the way style, and Monkey Harris, who looked the “good thing” of the day, did punters proud by winning the lucky last for .

A great day awaits patrons next Friday, with the highlight being the Ab Casey Memorial Final.
