2013 Bogie Leigh Queensland Futurity Preview & Betting Tips

The Group 2 Queensland Futurity is upon us, with 4 heats to be run at Albion Park Thursday Night.

Unfortunately as is often the case of late, the big one for bitches in Queensland has failed to attract much interstate interest, with only 7 interstate chasers lining up in the 4 heats.

The first heat has only 7 runners engaged, with no reserves in any of the 4 heats. It's a doom and gloom situation for Queensland racing, as more and more interstate trainers fail to cross the border to tackle our Feature races.

John and have 2 runners engaged in the heats with recent runner-up Winsome Charlee by Wheres Pedro out of Ramblin Ruby, drawing box 1 in a 7 dog field. She will lock horns with one of Qlds, best hopes Regal Lauryn. The daughter of Super star bitch , trained by Tony Brett and owned by Len Antonio A.K.A the “The Tooth Fairy”; will pose as the main threat to Charlee. John and Minnie will also rug up Closing Time, who has returned from a short spell to tackle the heats.

The Victorian Charge is led by Peter Hunt and who will don the leash on superstar multiple track record breaker Xylia Allen. The daughter of Turanza Bale and Tayah Bale possesses a freakish motor, who is capable of shattering track records when on song – evident in her unbelievable track record at . Peters charge, the freakish Cracker Jack Lil, by out of Lil's Memory, will look to continue her dream run of late after running third in the Egg, where she won her heat of the Egg first up on the track. They look to be the main hopefuls for the state of Victoria, although Angela Langton returns to Qld headquarters and she too rugs up 2 runners; Tark's Jewel and Sam's Sionara both from box 3.

The home states charge will once again be led by leading Qld trainer Tony Brett. Tony has 4 runners engaged with 3 of them appearing to be great chances. Jetta's Girl, a daughter of and Kaycee Diva, who Tony has likened to the great Champ Bogie Leigh, will take on the flying Victorian Xylia Allen in heat 2. They look clear-cut in this, and Xylia Allen will need to begin better than she ever has before to match it with little Jetta's Girl early. Jetta's Girl has an imposing record here with 9 starts for 8 wins and a best time of 30.00. There's no doubt Xylia Allen can go quicker than that, but she will have her work cut out for her first up in full field conditions coming from behind.

Cracker Jack Lil will tackle a much easier field, but she too will have to demonstrate all of her brilliant early pace to hold out a flying Blue Bird for Glenda Dart. Both dogs begin like bombs and Blue Bird only 3 starts ago, nearly broke the first sectional record here at Albion Park running a mind-boggling 5.61 to the first mark. They appear to be the main hopefuls, and I'd be surprised to see any of them miss the final. Local trainers make up the rest of the 4 heats.

Group 1 Superstar also makes his return after being scratched from the Golden Easter Egg heats. He has drawn box 2 in the best 8 and looms as the likely winner. Sheikha, recent Group 1 winner and Egg finalist, has drawn box 1 in a 5th grade, and she looks well placed to salute from the perfect box. She's going to have to bring her A-game with her as the inform Berella Kathryn looks to bring up win number 4 in a row. The daughter of Meticulous and Tawny Shiraz is a model of consistency and will once again chase her heart out. It's going to be a mighty ask to knock off the Group 1 winner from her favorable draw, but she appears the main danger.

The action kicks off at Albion Park at 6.43pm Thursday night, with the first heat of the Futurity at 7.42pm.
