Four of Australia’s most exciting stayers have been announced by the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club as the finalists for the Imagetec Solutions Super Stayers Invitational.
He Knows Uno, Irma Bale, Abby Shiraz and Mocha Shocker are the stayers that will compete in the $15,000 to the winner invitational race to be held at the Albion Park Raceway on Thursday 21st June.
Fresh off his recent win in the Group 1 Macro Meats Gold Cup, He Knows Uno looks to be the early pre race favourite and his trainer Michael Patterson believes he could not have the greyhound in better physical condition. In winning the Gold Cup He Knows Uno recorded the fasted time of his career on the Albion Park track – 41.78sec.
Irma Bale qualified for selection for the Super Stayers after her brilliant win in the Group 1 Sandown Cup in Melbourne. Trained by Australia’s leading trainer, Graham Bate, Irma Bale is assured to be very competitive in the quality field.
Abby Shiraz, prepared by Brisbane’s leading trainer Sandra Hunt, is one of the two local hopes in the race. Unlucky to miss out on an invitation to the 2011 Super Stayers, Abby Shiraz has been a model of consistency over the past 12 months. This was evident with her third place finish in the Group 1 Macro Meats Gold Cup.
Mocha Shocker is the second Queensland greyhound in the field. He has burst onto the Brisbane greyhound racing scene with some phenomenal race and trial times. His recent win in the Garrard’s Winter Chase highlighted this, scoring by 7 ¾ lengths in a time of 41.73sec.
The Imagetec Solutions Super Stayers will be race 8 of the 10 race program at the Albion Park Raceway on Thursday 21st June. Gates open at 6:00pm.
