Albion Park’s Easter Trophy Heats High On Quality
Albion Park's top fifth grade greyhounds will line up this Thursday night for their shot at the $7,600 Easter Trophy Final next week.
The Easter Trophy heats this Thursday night are sure to have punters studying form closely with four quality fields featuring some of Brisbane's top up and coming performers.
In Heat One (Race Two) top 2008 Brisbane trainer, Ron Ball, will be hoping Ryan's A Rocket can come out firing like last week, snatching a win from Abundia Boo in a time of 30.47.
Jumping from box two, Ryan's A Rocket will need to perform well again to keep out Take A Squizz, who boasts recent wins in Brisbane with first sectionals as quick as 5.73.
Coulta Dust will also be a threat in this race, boasting a best time in February of 30.15, and is sure to benefit from a recent freshen up run on the straight track at Capalaba.
Heat Two (race four) should see Abundia Boo open the betting as favourite, with a strong 520m Albion Park record of 13 starts for four wins, three seconds and two third placings.
The Sergio Livotto-trained dog finished a close second last week behind Ryan's A Rocket.
Stockman from box four will provide some strong competition for Abundia Boo, running a very honest race to finish third behind Quarter Time last week.
Bake A Cake should also start short priced making the return back to Brisbane after racing at Wentworth Park and boasting a very convincing Albion Park best time of 30.35 in February.
Heat Three (Race Nine) will see Reg Hazelgrove's imppecibley-bred bitch, Strong Breeze, jump from box one, an ally where he boasts four wins, one second and three third placings in his eight starts.
The Black Enforcer – Cyclone Chrissy black bitch will benefit from recent weeks racing against the blistering pace of Gnarraloo and Elma Fud, and should come out firing wearing the red.
John Falvey's Danny Phantom will be one to keep an eye on in this race, after a short but successful racing stint in Mackay, and boasting a strong best time of 30.24 in Brisbane in early February.
The Anthony Marras-trained Yorklea Diva should not be thrown out of the equation in this race also, who will should improve in her second start on the track.
The last heat of the night (Race 10) will see proven top performer Shooster (box eight) and Kay Cee Power (box two) go head to head.
Shooster will be wanting to pull out some of his 2008 form where he ran a blistering 30.11 in October. His recent starts against the likes of Gypsy Indigo and Yorklea Glory should also come into play.
Kay Cee Power, trained by 2009's most successful trainer to date, Troy Sharpe, has shown solid improvement recently, and coming from the Sharpe Kennels, should know how to explode from the boxes very quickly.
Mick Thrupp's Quarter Time shouldn't be left out of the mix for this race also, winning well last week from box seven.
Best Eight racing is heating up also at Albion Park this Thursday night, as several greyhounds start preparations for the Winter Carnival.
The Hawkins Media Solutions 600m will see several top Brisbane greyhounds line up including Code, Black Monty, Kathy's Recall and Black Ruler.
Robert Giltinan's Code won strongly last week from box two improving from his first start the week earlier, where he was just beaten by Black Monty.
Tom Noble has decided to give Black Monty the 520m freshen up for this race, placing fourth on Monday night behind Lots Of Moolah, who ran 30.05.
Kathy's Recall, trained by Margaret Quarrell, will also be looking to make amense after being beaten by Code last week as well, and jumping from box five will not make it easy.
Reg Hazelgrove's Black Ruler made the comeback to Albion Park last week, and will need to regain where he left off in December to beat this quality field.
