Darts Thursday Night Looks Peachy

Written By Thursday 25th September 2008

Promising sprinter Peach Bikini will make the step up at Albion Park this Thursday night after a blistering performance in Lismore last Tuesday.

The Glenda Dart-trained dog had race-goers in awe clocking in at 30.17 with a win of almost eight lengths ahead of the field.

Again from a favourable inside box, Peach Bikini is expected to take the lead early from Pop Top in box eight, and the Andrew Monaghan-trained Amos Moses, from box one.

The Give Me at Five Stud Novice 520m race (race five) is one of a card of testing races this Thursday night with drawcard being the best eight, A-Team 520m (race eight).

In this, Anarchy will be looking to cross first from box three after an unlucky run in the Lightning Final last Thursday night.

Regular top eight performers Overflow Breaker, Witheren’s Girl and Gozo Tess will also battle it out in this race, all of whom have run places to outstanding runs from Platinum Paws Semi Final contender, Lucky Alive.

Lee Wylie’s Watts Wise will also be a top contender in the race, running superbly to finish second behind Lucky Alive last Thursday in the Winning Edge free for all over 520m.

Paul Felgate’s Mobile Phantom should also be considered in this field, jumping from box one and making its first return back to an Albion Park 520m race since mid-July this year.

Race seven, the Winning Edge fifth grade over 520m, will feature consistent top three racer Gazza Shiraz looking for the blue ribbon.

Jumping from box three, Gazza Shiraz has finished with two wins and two second, respectively, in its last four starts in very quick times.

Its only competition may come from inside it with Yikes (box two) and Runya Beach (box three) expected to dash out of the boxes quickly for the early lead.

Congratulations and commiserations go to last week’s Paws of Thunder heat contenders at Wentworth Park.

Commiserations go to the Hawkins family after Queen Lauryn, Queensland’s champion race bitch, was scratched from the race on Friday afternoon after coming ‘on season’.

But congratulations go to Reg Kay, after Knocka Norris’ heat win, running in the quickest time of the night at 25.56.

Andy Albion’s best bets for Thursday:

  • Race 1 Number 1 Whirly Storm
  • Race 2 Number 7 One Missing
  • Race 5 Number 2 Peach Bikini
  • Race 7 Number 3 Gazza Shiraz
  • Race 8 Number 7 and 3 Watts Wise and Anarchy
