Queensland Greyhounds Suffer A Third Positive Swab
Greyhounds Queensland Stewards had only just found Jackson Morris guilty of presenting two greyhounds to race with caffeine present in their systems, and have now found Barry Morris guilty of a similar offence.
Stewards convened an inquiry on the 12th September 2008 in relation to the urine sample taken from the greyhound Bronsan Miss which competed on the 4th August 2008 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club in Race 3 (placed 1st) and subsequently returned positive to the drug Theobromine.
Theobromine is a metabolite of caffeine and its presence in a urinary swab is often suggestive of earlier caffeine adminsistration.
Morris appeared at the inquiry representing himself and pleaded not guilty to the charges but Greyhounds Queensland Stewards found him guilty as charged and imposed a $250 fine.
Stewards also disqualified Bronsan Miss from here winning run on the 4th August 2008.
