Red Hot Ruetschi Deserving Of Some Credit

Patrick Estate trainer Peter Ruetschi is on the crest of a winning wave.

That rich vein of form may well be set to continue at this Thursday where he has five runners engaged. The most important being his bitch You Can Talk, who will line up in box three in the final of the Two $40,000 Futurity.

The speedy red brindle daughter of Outa Credit and Where Are You ( – Duel's Me Mum) has won 11 of her 21 career starts and led all the way in her heat in the time of 30.13, just 0.01 seconds outside her best.

Ruetschi is bullish about her chances and told ARG that everything has fallen into place nicely.

“She went good last week but I think she will improve on Thursday night,” he said.

“Hopefully she can lead, the one is the only other one that can lead I think. The box is good for her, I like her close to the rails, but three is fine because she races one or two off the fence. She is well and I expect her to go good.”

It will be a family affair on the evening with three of You Can Talk's litter-mates (Give You Credit, You Say So and Outa Tempo) lining up in heats of the . Add to that a half relation in Captain Clarrie, who will exit box two in the Anzac Day trophy, and there is plenty for Ruetschi to be excited about.

“They are all going well, the three in the derby are huge hopes, her brothers.”

Ruetschi is very proud of the achievements of the breed which he races in partnership with owener/breeder Ken Crawford.

From just three litters Where Are You has thrown no less than 196 winners, with plenty more likely to come. Her first two litters to Elite And Classy, the second of which Captain Clarrie is a result, have produced 88 and 76 winners respectively.

Her most recent litter by Outa Credit has already produced 32 winners, not bad considering the litter is only 25 months old.

“Her mother has been unbelievable, I think she has thrown around 200 winners,” Ruetschi said.

“We have bred the litters, I raced her, Ken Crawford owned her and I raced her for her whole career, she had 99 starts. She was only a sprinter, she got run down by a couple of times at Albion Park, she just couldn't quite get the 500, but she has thrown 600 metre dogs. She has thrown a couple of group dogs.”

It is not the end of the road for the prolific producer just yet with Where Are You set to have her final litter soon.

“She is in pup with her last litter now to .”

But the Ruetschi and Crawford combination have no plans of stopping just yet.

“I'll have to start using her daughters soon, they will be pretty valuable broodbitches.”

Where Are you could well add another Group winner (or two) to her already impressive CV as a matron in the next fortnight at Albion Park.
