2012 Brian Johnstone Memorial Final Box Draw

Last Thursady night at Angle Park there were two terrific semi-finals of the Group 3 where the first four placegetters from each semi-final qualified for this week’s feature final.

The fastest qualifier for the final was the trained Victa Sam in the second semi-final who jumped midfield from box 1 but quickly mustered speed to move to second midrace before taking over out of the back straight to go on and record a solid 1¾ length victory in a handy 30.19 for the 515m journey.

He defeated Dignified Lad for Kathy Shepheard who began well from box 4 to initially lead and held on well for second with Barnicle trained in the South East by Stephen Bartholomew producing an eye catching run for third a further length after he was slow out and rattled home from well back in the field.

The first semi-final was taken out by the trained Just Izz who made full use of box 1 to rail hard and lead throughout recording a nice 1¾ length win over Gemtree for George Rehmann in a solid 30.24.

Just Izz won the first prelude in this series and again looks one of the hardest to beat after drawing box 1 in the final. Gemtree was gallant in defeat after finding trouble early around the first turn she ran home nicely for second with the Bruce Lellmann trained Stack The Doe filling third a further 1¼ lengths away.

The Brian Johnstone Memorial is for eligible SA Bred greyhounds whelped between June 2010 and December 2010. The $36,000 Final will be run next Thursday night 6th December at Angle Park. It will be race 8 on the program and is listed to jump at 9.11pm (SA time).
