This year's Final is probably one of the better finals seen in Adelaide for some time. At least five of the finalists should go on to be regular race finalists and FFA competitors.

Last week saw the running of three heats that were all ultra competitive. The most impressive heat appeared to be the heat which resulted in Wingard getting the cash. After pinging the lids, he always appeared in control, before stopping the clock in a best of the night 29.81. His sectionals and run home time suggest that with a clean beginning he should lead and take a power of beating.

Finishing third in that heat was the highly talented Nowak, and of all the finalists, he probably has the best chance of turning the tables on Wingard. Two starts ago he gave Wingard a head start and off the back straight he went into overdrive, before going on to beat Wingard by just under two lengths. Obviously he will be giving Wingard a start again, but tonight he has a wide runner drawn outside and a slow beginner drawn underneath, so he should be able to settle much closer to the speed.

Regal Looper appears to be the only other genuine winning hope. His heat effort looks a little disappointing on paper but last week he got dragged down at a crucial stage and he appeared to lose a fair bit of . Tonight he should be able to follow Wingard across in the early stages and like Nowak, he has beaten Wingard previously. This bloke possesses a great turn of foot soon after box rise, and I expect that he will really put the heat on the favourite off the back straight.

Both Punishment And Lexcen are likely to be fairly well fancied, however they both appear to be awkwardly drawn and will rely heavily on luck to feature. Punishment had his favourable pink draw in last week's heat and he finished less than two lengths behind Wingard, however tonight's inside draw is likely to work against him because he really doesn't like to be crowded early. Although he is likely to struggle in this event, keep your eye on this bloke. I'm sure he will be a major player in many SA feature events in the near future.

Lexcen is likely to get better when she steps up over longer trips. In recent times she has scored some powerful wins here and the most impressive win came last week when she roared to the line to score in 30 seconds flat. She will be giving them a big head start again, but I can see her running home into third and fourth spot. She will likely take the SA staying ranks by storm in the coming months.

It really is hard to see Wingard getting rolled, however punting wise, I think you will find loads of value with Nowak and Regal Looper. Both have victories over Wingard previously and both appear suitably drawn. Wingard has the speed and class but you will be taking big unders. I would be taking the chance that he misses the kick and Nowak and Regal Looper can take advantage.
