Gardiner Called To Inquiry Over Codeine Positive

News today from GRSA Stewards that Victorian greyhound trainer, Tanya gardiner has been called to inquiry over a positive swab to Codeine in one of her greyhounds from a Mount Gambier greyhound meeting.
On the 23rd September 2009 Stewards informed Gardiner by hand delivered letter that the greyhound Redgum Assassin had shown the presence of Codeine and its metabolite Norcodeine from the urine sample taken at the meeting held at Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club at Mount Gambier on Saturday 8th August 2009 and that she would be advised of the date, time and place of an inquiry.
On the day in question Redgum Assassin run seventh of eight runners in the last race on the card, the Open grade 277m race, being beaten 10.75 lengths having been backed in from $6.00 to start fourth favourite at $3.90.
Subsequent testing of the reserve portion of the urine sample confirmed the presence of Codeine and its metabolite Norcodeine.
Gardiner was advised of the analysts results on 12th October 2009 and has been informed she is required to attend an inquiry at the offices of Greyhound Racing South Australia on Monday 26th October 2009 at 11.00am, together with any witnesses that may assist for an inquiry by the Stewards into the circumstances relating to the obtaining of the positive urine sample.
Due to Ms. Gardiner’s location the inquiry can be conducted by telephone if she supplies a contact number to the Stewards prior to the date of the inquiry.
