Iva Vision Sets Time Standard In 2014 Group Three SA Derby Heats

The finalists for the 2014 Three have been decided after four heats of the race were conducted at on Thursday night.

South Australia will have just two representatives in the final, with the rest of the field made up of one Queenslander and five Victorians. Steven Collins has two runners as has the / combination.

The fastest qualifier for next week's final is Iva Vision. He stopped the clock at 29.68 and is likely to start as the favourite next week after drawing box eight for the final. He has a perfect record from the pink.

Iva Vison, a somewhat unfashionably bred dog by Ivan Brown and Visualization (Surf Lorian – Leataro), was impressive in his heat win over Dyna Alchemist (1), as he copped a check at the first turn but kept on chasing hard to swamp Dyna Alchemist late and win by a neck. Dyna Chaser (6) finished third and did enough to qualify as first reserve for next week's final.

Angela Langton's Wind Whistler (7) proved too strong in the second heat. Allen Icarus (3) flew out to an early lead, recording a fast 4.39 to the first mark. The short-priced favourite Hostile (6) couldn't cross the field and was checked out of the race turning into the back straight. At this stage, Wind Whistler was plying his trade near the back of the field. He started his run mid-way down the back straight and drew away for a two and a quarter length win in 29.82. Allen Icarus started at huge odds of $31.00 but qualified for the final by running second. Dakota Premier (4) finished third and will be second reserve for next week's final based on his time.

Texas Titan (6) started off a great night for the Vapour Whirl and Footluce ( – Scarlett) litter by winning the third heat and securing a spot in next week's final. His sisters Oakvale Destiny and Footluce Diva ran the quinella in the Group Three SA Oaks later in the night. Texas Titan got away better than expected and found himself in a good spot near the lead. Once he hit the front, he was never going to be beaten and romped away for a five and three quarter length win in 29.77 over the favourite, Dyna Ostrander (8).

The final heat went the way of local hope Aston Kane (5). He kept a great career record intact to bring up his 14th win from 16 starts. He stopped the clock at a tidy 29.78 and won by four lengths over Lannister (7).
