Jovanovic’s Four Month Disqualification Confirmed On Appeal
In South Australia, Greyhound Racing SA Stewards completed an inquiry on 9 May 2011 into the circumstances relating to the obtaining of the positive urine sample from the greyhound Cascada Star at the Greyhound Racing SA meeting held at Angle Park on Thursday 3rd February 2011.
Cascada Star swabbed positive to the anti inflammatory corticosteroid Dexamethasone.
Mr. Petar Jovanovic was charged with a breach of the GRSA Rules Of Greyhound Racing R83
Mr. Jovanovic pleaded not guilty to the charge, Stewards found Mr. Jovanovic guilty of the charge and he was disqualified for a period of 4 months effective from Midnight Monday 16th May 2011.
Stewards acting under rule R83(4) disqualified Cascada Star from Race 5 conducted at the meeting held at Angle Park on 3rd February 2011 and amended the placings accordingly.
On Tuesday 19th July 2011 the Racing Appeals Tribunal heard an appeal lodged by Mr. Jovanovic against the Stewards decision.
On Thursday 28th July GRSA Stewards were advised that the Tribunals decision was that the Stewards penalty imposed remains unchanged.
This four month disqualification penalty commences from midnight Monday 1st August 2011.
