SA’s Parsec Bale & Springvale Bryne qualify for National Distance
PARSEC Bale scored the biggest victory of her career at Angle Park on Thursday night, claiming the SA Distance Championship final over the 731m trip.
Jumping well from box one as a $14 shot, the Wendy Matcott-trained chaser was hampered early and was shuffled back into fifth spot as race favourite Springvale Bryne (box six) burst through to assume the lead entering the straight on the first occasion.
Heading through the catching pen and Springvale Bryne was still bounding along out in front, with the main dangers appearing to be Just Ducal (box eight) and She's A Looper (box four) which were stalking the leader down the back.
Swinging for home and the challengers dropped off as Springvale Bryne sprinted clear, however Parsec Bale was quickly gaining momentum, hooking to the outside and charging down the centre of the track to hit the front and score by half a length in 43.80.
A daughter of Bekim Bale and Amanda Bale, the Paul Wheeler-owned bitch has now won 10 of her 46 race starts with an additional 16 minor placings, while the victory elevated her career earnings above the $23,000 mark.
Parsec Bale and Springvale Bryne will both progress through to the Group 1 National Distance Championship final which will be held at Angle Park on August 27.
The series will see the top stayers from around the nation head to South Australia for a tilt at the title, with the winner pocketing $75,000.
