Allison And Allison Big Winners At Devonport

Bagdad trainer Allison Walker took five pups from the one litter to the NWGRC's Raceway meeting on Tuesday afternoon and returned home very satisfied at having won two races.

The pick of her five runners Magic Moss, showed his rivals a clean pair of paws in winning the Juvenile (452 metres) after jumping to the premier position from the blue box.

He recorded the exceptional time of 25.73 in winning by almost two lengths as a well supported $3.10 commodity and is undefeated in two trips to the .

Earlier in the meeting his litter brother Black Torpedo, a debut runner, had for next weeks Virbac Vetsearch Tasbred Maiden Final by winning his heat in the time of 26.44 as a $10 chance.

Marananga Moss, the winner of nine races is a daughter of the Awesome Assassin bitch Blackberry Moss, which won 22 races when handled by Allison's father Rodney.

“I was very pleased with all of my runners, even those that were unplaced showed a bit of ability and I am hoping that they will improve enough to win in the very near future,” Walker explained after the race.

“Dad wanted us to remain in this breed and asked me if I was prepared to take up training, which I have done and I am really enjoying the lifestyle,” she added.

Allison races the litter, the first to have been produced by Marananga Moss, in partnership with her brother Clint and they are looking forward to following the fortunes of her second litter by Kiowa Sweet Trey.

Meanwhile another Allison to have experienced success at the Devonport meeting was Somerset trainer Allison Haustein, who prepared a winner with her very first runner.

A relative newcomer to the sport, Allison experienced early success as an owner with the very smart chaser Mr Issues, now racing in Victoria.

Early in his career the son of strung together five wins in succession from the Gary Johnson kennel, stamping him as one of the most promising chasers in Tasmania.

Spurred on by the success, Allison convinced her partner Tom Johnson to purchase a pup by Talk's Cheap and racing as Love And Luck, that bitch also won four races from the Johnson kennel before she was granted her trainers licence.

Having her initial start from Allison's kennel, Love And Luck prevailed in the Grade 5 event (452 metres) at odds of $7.70.

was the star attraction at the NWGRC meeting, doing a “Black Caviar” by winning his 12th race in 12 outings at the venue.

The Peter Phillips owned and prepared son of Big Daddy Cool, took out the Dowling McCarthy Tyres Invitation (452 metres) by five lenghts in the time of 25.64 as a heavily supported $1.30 favourite.

Damek has now won 39 of 49 lifetime starts while accumulating a purse of in excess of $90,000 and is regarded as the best chaser to have raced in Tasmania in recent times.
