Cannan Holds The Key To Hobart Maiden Thousand Final

Mangalore's holds the key to $10,000 Maiden Thousand Final (461 metres) to be conducted at Park in on Thursday night.

Not only does she part-own and prepare the second fastest semi-final winner, but she also owns the prepared fastest semi-winner and both chasers have drawn suitable boxes, in what promises to be a spectacular contest.

Cannan and 's Ian Sowell own the bitch Emerald Lee (Paddy's Flame – Inbetween Days) , which recorded 26.36 in winning her semi-final of the prestigious race.

“Gary Greig bred Emerald Lee and offered her for sale, so Ian and I inspected her and were happy with what we saw,” Cannan explained.

“She is suited in the check box on Thursday night and I am hoping that she will give a good sight.”

Cannan arranged that Medhurst prepare Zavance Man ( Head Bound – It's A She) out of respect for her neighbours.

“Zavance Man is a barker and I only have a one hectare property, whereas Ted's is much larger, so I thought it better that he look after him,” she explained.

The chaser ran a brilliant 26.33 in winning his semi-final and has drawn the black box on Thursday night, which is to his liking.

Debbie Cannan is no stranger to big race success, having won the 2011 and Australian Cups with the outstanding chaser St. Pierre, which put her on the map as far as trainers are concerned.

The Head Bound – It's A She litter, which has already produced several highly promising chasers, will have another representative in the Maiden Thousand Final in the prepared Miss Hetti.

The bitch recorded 26.70 in winning her semi and has drawn the white box on Thursday night.

“It will be a hard race to win, however we have at least made the field and are in with a chance,” the trainer declared.

The Penguin based Deverell has also enjoyed success in recent months with another of the particular litter in the flying , which he rates as one of the fastest chasers he has had the pleasure of training.

Hobart trainer Graeme Moate prepares only a small team in this day and age, however he has not lost any of his skills and will box the well performed Shanlyn Hirdy (Slater – ) in the big event.

The chaser ran a sizzling 26.31 in winning his heat and then followed up with a 26.79 score in his semi, with the result that he also must be respected in what is an intriguing affair.
