Amity Flame Ignites In Bold Trease Heats

Four strong heats of the One were conducted over the 715m at Park last night, with Amity Flame trained by Anthony Flores taking time honours for the night, clocking a speedy 42.16 in heat three.

Both Robert Britton and Anthony Flores will put the polish on two runners each in next Thursday's rich $100,000 to the winner event, with any dog capable of claiming the coveted staying title.

Bold Trease Heat One

1st: (6) – Leonard Jones ($46.60) 2nd: (4) Destini Fireball 3rd: (5) Newfire Riley
Time: 42.28

After finding a heap of trouble early, the winner found himself last running past the post with one lap remaining. As the leaders began to weaken in the back straight, the rank outsider of the field, swopped around the outside to cause one of the biggest upsets in a Group One heat. For an outsider to produce such an outstanding performance, with his time capable of being lowered with a clear run next week.

Bold Trease Heat Two

1st: (2) Lucy Wires – Robert Britton ($2.70) 2nd: (5) Hala Belle 3rd: (6) Ash Flash
Time: 42.25

Fresh off a brilliant victory at Group Three win, Lucy Wires found trouble early to sit at the back of the field going past the judge the first time. Finding her rhythm on the home turn, she got a very lucky break after Bell Haven was taken off the track by another runner, tragically robbing him of a final spot.

Bold Trease Heat Three

1st: (4) Amity Flame – Anthony Flores ($3.60) 2nd: (7) Freddy's Smile 3rd: (5) Gold Affair Two
Time: 42.16

The winner positioned himself nicely in third during the early stages of the race, before checking heavily off the heels of the frontrunners turning for home the first time. Chasing down early leader Where's Keroma who tired badly, the speedster then shot away up the straight, clocking the fastest of the heat wins.

Bold Trease Heat Four

1st: (3) Cheetah Zorro – Robert Britton ($9.00) 2nd: Hurricane Isaac 3rd: Smart Valentino
Time: 42.29

Trainer Robert Britton got his second qualifier through to next Thursday, after Cheetah Zorro sat beautifully in second position behind early leader Hurricane Iaac for duration of the race and produced a gusty effort on the home turn to score by a neck. Smart Valentino left his run too late and failed to qualify for next week after charging down the outside to grab third.
